hi guys i have been getting into knives and have bought some of them from ebay sellers. just wanna make sure i havent bought fake ones, does anyone know if infinitepursuits and outfittercountry on ebay are selling real spydercos or fake? ive got paramilitary 2 (C81GPCMOBK2), domino (C172CFTIP) and pacific salt (C91PBK), is there any easy ways to see if they are genuine?

thanks

Check the Spyderco forum here, there's a thread about fakes. If you post a few pictures there someone might be able to help you. There's so many fake Spydercos on eBay these days, you'll need detailed pictures.

The Para2 is the most commonly faked Spyderco.

I've never read or heard of the Domino or Pacific Salt being faked but its possible.

Outfittercountry is legit.

I have purchased a bunch of knives from outfittercountry and never had an issue they are actually one of my saved sellers. you can definitely buy from them with confidence.

The Para2 is by the most commonly faked Spyderco but as far as I know the Camo Handle Para 2 has never been faked because they don't have the ability to make the Camo G10..I can't verify that but I have read it a few times.

They do have the Camo models on the Aliexpress site, I just looked.

Here's a picture off my screen, because I can't link it and not break a rule. (it's a Military, I didn't look any further because if they can fake one they can the other)

Went to Aliexpress and took a look and apparently they are making camo Milles and now have them in the black blade version(newly listed)..looks like all the non-sprint run regular version Para2's are being faked now. That will make Ebay a real minefield when buying any of those Para2,s.

Good to know and be aware of what they are faking but bad for the market as now the camo handled, satin blade Millies might be fakes. Didn't see any Camo Para2's listed but that could change at any time. *EDIT* Spoke to soon!! The Camo handle/Black Para2's are listed now!! It says "NEW ARRIVAL"

One thing though is IMO thats a terrible looking camo job. That g10 does not look like the real deal to me.

Looking at Aliexpress I don't see any Blue or Green para2 fakes so I'm assuming those are still good to go, at least for now.

They do have the Orange para2's listed so buyer beware if buying one of those.

I was reading the other day, Spyderco's Camo is not through the G-10, it is only on the surface. So, if that's true I wouldn't think it would be that hard to duplicate.
It must be true, the handle edges are all one color.

Thanks for all your posts they have been helpfull. The knives I've got so far from eBay seem like the real deal after taking a closer look and reading the posts on the forum. Just wanted to make sure. But you never know and it doesn't hurt to double check.

Both are legitimate, though I had problems with getting warranty repair on a crossbow I bought from outfittercountry.

I bought a paramilitary2 from infinitepursuits through ebay and a traser watch from infinitepursuits own website. Both times were flawless. The orders were processed and shipped the same day. The products were genuine and in perfect condition. They're one of my first stops when looking for something new.

JUST BECAUSE YOU SEE THAT ONE DOES NOT MEAN THEY WONT SEND YOU A FAKE.
Ebay is the worst place to buy knives, if the price is below other knife dealer its a fake. Noone goes on ebay to sell and lose money

Not true. I called Spyderco to confirm that Infinite Pursuits was a legit Spyderco dealer. They sell on eBay and have great prices (much less than some other dealers!). Everything I've received from infinitepursuits on ebay and directly from www.infinitepursuits.com has been authentic.

eBay can be an ok place to purchase from, but I would NEVER purchase from AliExpress or from a seller who is outside the USA. What I usually do is review the seller to make sure they have good reviews on eBay, then google the seller to find out their own website. Often the prices are even better on their website than it is on their eBay listings.

Fakes have gotten so good now that I don't buy anything on ebay and am currently not buying from individuals here as well. It's not that individuals here might knowingly sell a fake but they may not know. All my knife purchases in the last couple of years have been from authorized dealers.

A little late to this post but I just ordered a spyderco pacific salt off ebay and want to know if this user is legit or if the knife is fake : supremesolution

Most inaccurate thing I have read in a long, long time. I have purchased several knives from ebay, and not a single one so far as I have been able to tell has been a fake yet. If you buy from a dealer with 98% or above feedback, with a decent number of feedback score(I try to look for ones with 1,000+ at the very least), and most importantly a seller who deals in knives regularly you should be fine.

Just because the price is better than a dealer's price doesn't mean it's a fake right off the bat. Some people look for specials and sales and buy up whatever they can, then flip it while still being better priced than a dealer.

What are the tell-tale signs to tell if the knife is fake? It's a pacific salt.

If the shipper is located in China for starters.

Many eBay dealers are legitimate, but that doesn't mean that someone selling clones/knock offs/counterfeits there cannot have a good rating too does it? I will say that more people have been ripped off on eBay than they have from buying from retail stores with good reputations, all other things being equal

It is true that fakes exist on ebay. But it is a huge myth that they are all fake especially if its a good price. And while yes it is possible to get a fake on ebay its also the easiest place to get your money back if that happens. I have got a few fake items on accident from ebay. But i was ALWAYS able to get a prompt refund.
