Just wondering if anyone has seen any Fake/Clone Para 3s? I just ordered a para 3 on amazon and was just concerned knowing the history of the PM2.

If you buy from amazon just make sure whatever vendor you buy from is backed by amazon. I think they are legit 100 percent of the time but I've heard ppl say different but even if you get a fake you can return it no questions asked within 30 days.. AS LONG AS IT IS BACKED BY AMAZON

Amazon just delivered an obviously opened and empty envelope on my doorstep today, then took a picture and emailed it to prove that they delivered it. Good luck with the effing roulette wheel that is Amazon.

Totally sucks BS......but not surprised at all.
Hope you get squared away brother!

The Para 3 is too new for the fakers. With Amazon you have to be careful that someone did not buy a knife, mess it up, and return it for a refund, then Amazon resells that knife.

I've never had a problem ordering anything off amazon
Nor have we...we've never bought a knife from them but we buy a bunch of other stuff from them since we retired and have had zero problems...

Cheers/bg

I haven't seen any and I monitor that area daily, so I say you probably bought a genuine Spyderco Para 3 (obviously can't testify about the quality or the condition of the knife).
When you get it, check it thoroughly, especially pay attention to the area above the gimping.
If you see an extra notch there, that might mean that it is a Factory Second that was sold for less and isn't covered by Spyderco's warranty (it also usually comes without the box or paperwork, but those could be bought separately by the dealer).

BTW - I seem to be good at distinguishing clones from original knives, so if anyone would like to get an advice about the authenticity of a certain knife - you are more than welcome to send me a PM or contact me otherwise.

I promise not to scam anyone and if I won't know/won't be able to tell - I promise to tell the truth that I don't know.

Any issues I have ever had with Amazon as the buyer have been quickly remedied and were never as a result of a "fake" item, etc. (not saying it can't happen, just hasn't to me). For example, bought a keyboard where they accidentally sent me the version with the European layout. Have had good luck as a seller up to this point too (just miscellaneous goods I was looking to un-clutter).

I only deal with them on knives if I have credit locked up there(gift cards, etc.) and see something I like, and only then if it is directly from Amazon for their guarantee or through a merchant that is verified authentic on the manufacturer's website. Otherwise, I have been using the BF list and been happy with it. Specifically KSF and DLT so far, but sure the other guys are great too, just haven't tried them yet :)

Ive received a spyderco and someone must have switched it to a fake. It wasn't even a Para 2 it was a Tenacious. They also let a vendor from Thailand sell on AmazonHe was known as a crook on Ebay and got thrown out. Many people including me sent Emails to Amazon and still let him sell. Beware. Only buy fulfilled or backed by Amazon.

I never have had any issues with Amazon but I always buy from Amazon, Amazon Fulfillment, or basically anything that supports Prime shipping. I am not saying Amazon is a go to spot for knives but I wouldn't rule them out entirely in my purchasing options.

Yea what he said but just cause I'm curious where are the vendors on here? And if they're cheap as amazon I won't order from them anymore

I've had trouble on Amazon. Had a debit card I used just for Amazon. Got one just for Ebay, too. Anyway,I used the card for a few buys from Amazon over three months or so, nothing big, about 5 purchases, and I'm looking at the charges online one day on the debit card page and see not one but TWO for $10 from "Zappos.com". I know i didn't buy anything from Zappos.com, and I saw the charges were two days before and about one minute apart. I get in touch with this Zappos place, and am told the charges were for electronic gift cards. I explain I didn't make those charges, never even heard of the place, etc, and to their credit they refunded my money back to the card without any hassle at all. Sounds like a done deal, right? I do some research, and find out this Zappos has a history of this because they don't require the three digit security code, and that they're owned by..Amazon. Basically, an Amazon employee stole my number, floated a couple small charges through then tried for the biggie (which got declined). I used the card nowhere else. Google it, it's a scheme. Amazon is only as trustworthy as the people taking/filling your orders.

Thanks for that list. I have used some of them I thought we were talking about like one man vendors that just sell on here. I'm surprised to not see kniveshipfree.. they may not be on that list but there customer service is phenomenal. I have been a pain in the ass with them sometimes (sorry). Not meaning to be and maybe I'm not that bad I'm just not use to really complaining about anything but they have always made things right one way or another. You have thirty days with them to handle your knife and not use it and if you don't like it you can return it. Very hard to go wrong with that. Also if you have any questions they'll go out their way to answer them for you or to find out whatever you need to know. Great company and great people to deal with.

Sometimes you have to be careful with Amazon.

For example, Nike offers fantastic titanium frames for Rx eyeglasses. One of our clients wanted a discontinued color and bought his frames though Amazon (at a huge savings, I might add) but, he has zero recourse from Nike if there is a problem because the model/color combo is no longer in production. If he had purchased one of Nike's current offerings from our practice, (same frame, different color) there would be a full one year warranty on materials and workmanship. Sometimes it pays to buy from your local dealer.

I can't help but wonder how often you are getting factory seconds or discontinued items with Amazon. I know that one of my Amazon Kershaws did not have the best workmanship. I should have sent it back.

Neither factory seconds or discontinued models will be, as a direct reseller of the brands themselves. Amazon is only allowed to include item description and warranties of the brand, nothing else. If it's discontinued, the product page will say so. As said, this goes to products fulfilled by Amazon or one of its trusted partner chain, where random, unchecked stock will be scoured for closest shipping.

It's when the product is also available from 3rd party affiliates, not related to Amazon, but allowed to list a product as an affiliate where the shady dealings and deals pop up, but Amazon (& ebay) has been taking steps to deal with that too with increasing standards. The arrangement was not much different than listing on ebay with Amazon getting a cut/fee for any purchase.

It's in the fine print but it's there. Knowing is half the battle.
