Fake Spyderco Para 3

Not yet, hopefully not ever. Wondering why you don't support the vendors here?
Normally I do. We live in the northwoods and shipping here is always a bit of an issue. My wife uses prime like most use walmart, so I thought I would give it a go. Anyway. I think all is well, the knife looks great, I was just curious if any have shown up on the market yet.

I have bought many knives from Amazon and it showed up USED, sharpened and some were down right abused. Of course I returned them the same day after receiving. Amazon initiated a ban for my account because I had too many returns, thankfully an Amazon customer service rep send me an email about the ban and I informed him of the issue of Amazon selling used knives as new. I received a standard reply saying they only sell new items and the ban was retracted.

For those you don't know, a ban from Amazon is for life and you can never open an new account with them under a different email and physical address, they will figure out its you and ban your accounts.

Long story short, in the past year I have noticed prices on Amazon for everything have gone up ALOT and it's become standard pratice for Amazon to repackage returned goods to sell as NEW. I have purchased quit a few baby items for my son that showed up in original packaging but had signs of usage. One high chair I bought even had baby puke aka regurgitate baby food stuck on he seat when I opened it and assembled it. It was too much hassle to take it apart and package it for a return so I decided to clean it with alcohol and kept it.

That's ridiculous dude I'd be pissed if that happened to me.. sry about the bad luck man

I never have had any issues with Amazon but I always buy from Amazon, Amazon Fulfillment, or basically anything that supports Prime shipping. I am not saying Amazon is a go to spot for knives but I wouldn't rule them out entirely in my purchasing options.
I've order around 47 Cold Steel products products from Amazon. No real problems. I recieved a Cold Steel recon micro that came dull and will NOT take an edge. I firmly believe it's NOT a fake. Just a "Friday Night Knife." Meaning it got a shit heat treat because some dude half -assed it to hurry up and drink beers with his buddies. I don't hold that against CS. I own at last count (I have no life lol) 56 CS products. That's the only tool I've had a problem with.

I don't think that Cold Steel stuff would be included in this discussion......returned fakes. Haven't heard much about fake Cold Steel stuff.
It usually happens with the more expensive knives or the very popular models.....like the PM2.

Wait. You assembled it, and then noticed the puke?

Also, wiping with alcohol isn't good enough if you want to kill virus. It would take some serious cleaning with bleach to be safe.

I'm curious also, why Amazon instead of 100% safety and satisfaction with an actual dealer??
Don't tell us.......you saved $4.37.

Ive bought knives on amazon. Usually because i racked up a bunch of points and was getting something for free.

There are tons of fake cold steel stuff. In fact its one of the most copied of the bigger brands for some odd reason.

Damn Tim!
I never would've guessed that. Seems weird that they would fake $50 knives.
I always thought the more expensive models, over $125 or so, would be faked more.

Well cold steel makes a lot of products in a lot of price ranges. With cold steel I don't really know where the mindset with it is but they fake everything from the small push daggers to ti-lites, Recon series fixed blade and even the newer voyager series stuff. They used to do fakes of the san mai high end folders but they were very easy to spot in general. But it would seem that the original price of the product whether its high or low doesn't matter. Its more about "was there any meat left on the bone". In other words even if its a $30 knife if someone can still make money counterfeiting it and selling it for $15 someone will do it.

The cost these things incur to produce is so small it seems they will take risks on lower price point knives to see what is going to sell. Where the cloners and counterfeiters seem to be more picky is actually in the higher end. Anything over $100 direct from china and they get really picky because there is more money on the line if its a failure. Especially with original designs. Take the covenant balisong. Maxace sold every single one of those knives in less than a month at nearly $400 a pop. And word is maxace isn't going to make them again. But that also could have been a situation where they didn't know they couldn't sell them in the USA and used those Chinese sites to dump them. I'm not sure. But something like a $15 copy of a spyderco they will pump out by the thousands simply because they sell instantly. Its sad but unfortunately a sad truth.

I saw a counterfeit Kershaw OSO Sweet on the Bay for like $8. That's only a $16-20 knife to begin with!

A lot of Cold Steel stuff IS expensive now. Seen the latest offerings? They've all but done away with AUS-8.
I wouldn't call them expensive they are in about the same price point as Kershaw and CRKT. Not cheap but not what I would label expensive either.

I really don't get how this is confusing to people consider Supply & Demand. More people want a cheap knife than are looking for quality knife it makes more sense to clone/counterfiet cheaper products becuase it is about quantity. You stand to profit more off of many small gains than a few large gains.

Ive received a spyderco and someone must have switched it to a fake. It wasn't even a Para 2 it was a Tenacious. They also let a vendor from Thailand sell on AmazonHe was known as a crook on Ebay and got thrown out. Many people including me sent Emails to Amazon and still let him sell. Beware. Only buy fulfilled or backed by Amazon.
I e-mailed Amazon and called them on the second day of when he started selling on Ebay. They said the would look into it. They could care less. He was still there a week later selling his counterfeit stuff. I called them again and they told me the same crap they fed me the first time. They don't care anymore, as long as they get their cut.

Yea that sounds about right a lot of big companies are like that especially if no one else is complaining. I also guess it's not too crazy too believe someone could of switched your box out with a fake. Or the seller honestly doesn't know. Either way I hope it gets sorted out

No delivery company in the UK would leave a parcel on somebody`s doorstep, they either leave it with a neighbour and post you a card with the neighbour name and house number, If they cannot do that they take the parcel back to the depo and leave you a card with a number to rearrange delivery when somebody is home.

John.

If you buy from amazon just make sure whatever vendor you buy from is backed by amazon. I think they are legit 100 percent of the time but I've heard ppl say different but even if you get a fake you can return it no questions asked within 30 days.. AS LONG AS IT IS BACKED BY AMAZON
I am embarrassed to say that I know a few people that have switched new for used on Amazon and sent it back. Unfortunately I think this happens alot so you have to be careful and check everything you get from them.

I'm glad we had this discussion because up until now I never stopped to think something like that could happen.. well amazons been good to me so far but I will definitely pay more attention if I order from them again. Now I understand why people say spend the extra money for a credible vendor.. but still if u know what to look for and get something amazon backed you can always return it but I could've got a used knife back in the day and never even realized it

There are a multitude of video's on YouTube on how to differentiate between real & clones. I learned a tremendous amount of info on Fakes, models with problems. I never buy a knife without listening to a few of my favorite reviewers. I just bought a knife from a member of BF. I checked if he was okay an all checked out. It was a ZT and the price was too good. I paid him what he asked. I received the knife and started scrutinizing it with my diamond loupe and everything checked out. This paranoia stems from all the of the switcharoo going on. It may have been fake and he may not of known. Always be wary and don't buy from people that don't take returns. If you have to make sure they authenticate the knife for you in an e-mail that way you won't have trouble with Ebay or PayPal. I learned all this from getting screwed a few times.
