This weekend I went out to see a falcon nest.
Last year, four young birds fledged from this nest,
but to my regret, looks like they are not breeding this year.

Breed or not, they dominated their sky with their fatal stoops as usual.
Here's some photos, wish you enjoy them.

Thanks for looking.

Thank you for sharing. As one that has spent many ours watching birds of prey, I cannot see enough of them.
Great pics!

Nice work as always!

I expect that top picture, or a portion of it, will wind up as someone's BFC avatar before long!

Fujita Yuji is always one of my favorite posters here, because he can capture an outdoors experience quite different from what we see here in North America, and he does so with only a handful of photos. You get so much out of them.

Looks to be a peregrine falcon you have over there in the photos. When I was much younger I worked at Cornell University with the Birds of Prey Program. We set about reintroducing the Peregrine Falcon to the Hudson River and NYC environs to much success. I used to handle them, and other birds of prey; and the Golden Eagle is the one I was always in awe of due to sheer size when holding it. Up in the Shendoahs along the cliffs you can often watch Peregrine Falcons hunting and soaring; along with various turkey vultures, and hawks. The tiny Sparrow hawks and Kestrels are amzing little birds of prey in their own right. I can be driving down the highway at 70 mph these days and spot hawks, owls, and falcons roosted near the roadways; even though no one else in the car can see them until I point them out....and I'm driving!!

Thanks for favourable posts.
When I posted red-tailed hawk preying on squirrel in a park of Washington DC,
I noticed quite a number of people living on this board loves birds of prey.

1Tracker, you are the member of that legendary project.

Great pics man! When I was "in country" some kids tried to trade a falcon to me for some smokes. Needless to say I did not want to get too close(to the kids), but I did get a pic and make a successful "rescue".

Yuji, Yes, and it was a great project to have had an opportunity to experience and see the rewards flying about during the year. If I get my 35mm photographs transferred over onto a CD in the future I will share them here. I have some on slides, yes, that old school ; and some in albums, and the negatives (packed away in storage:confused:).

UK_CATS_FAN , happy to hear you "rescue"d those falcons ;).
Thanks, kage-san.

My great honour to talk with you, 1Tracker, and I hope someday you will show
us the pictures of that legendary days.
