I know we have loads of scotch and bourbon drinkers here within the Busse ranks, but does anyone else get into the seasonal beers (namely O'fests and Marzens) when they start appearing on bottle shop/liquor store shelves in early September? I really look forward to the beers that are available this time of year, some great malty concoctions that really just go with the cooling weather. It's my favorite time of year for a multitude of reasons, but I thought I'd see if anyone else gets into the craft beer scene.

OH YEAH!

November and December are Chicory Stout season by Dogfish Head - my favorite brewery :D:D:D

I try to follow their seasonal and special releases....

Just picked up a 4-pack of Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Surprised that I found it at the local supermarket because I just couldn't see it anywhere last year. Always a fun drink to have because it could fool you into thinking you're drinking something sweet with its loaded spice flavors. Try it if anyone wants to experience what drinking pumpkin pie feels like.

[How could anyone refuse a lovely chocolate or oatmeal stout??]

Well put, you have a good point. I don't want to meet the type of person who turns either of those beers down.:D

Last year's Sam Adams Oktoberfest was very good. I went through a case of it. I tend to prefer the draft beers, such as anything from Japan, or Foster's. When I want something special, it is either a Guiness or chocolate beer. When I go somewhere and want a beer, I first check whether there are local beers.

If you are not afraid of the dark :D, try Brooklyn's Black Ops..., if you can find it!!! According to the labeling, it doesn't exist.:)

I'll be sure to mention Brooklyn's Black Ops to this "operator" when I meet with him next month (though he, too, doesn't exist):

I love Pumpkin Ales, had a few Post Road Pumpkin Ales last night and one to wash down breakfast this morning.

Does anyone know whether Sam Adams will be releasing their Chocolate Bock this year?

Gritty Mcduff's Halloween Ale, it' one of my all time favorites. It's a Amber colored ESB with loads of flavor, but it is very smooth, easy drinking. I always say it has a slight notes of cotton candy, delicious! Last year I bought a few six packs just to keep and drink over the winter/spring(did not last long). Anybody near Portland ME should go to the Mcduff's Brew pub and get this on draft. Cheers!

One of my favorites. When I was in Germany many years ago, Kulmbacher made a great Marzen. 'Tis the season. :D

I'll be in munich for the first weekend in oktoberfest:eek::thumbup:

I'll have to try that one if I can find it....I have been hearing alot about hoffbrauhaus...they must have an oktoberfest special brew:confused:

J

Hofbrau Oktoberfest. Love it and get it every year. Doing an Oktoberfest feast next week, even though a lil early: schnitzel, brauts, kraut, spaetzel, etc. I haven't quite gotten the courage yet to make schweinshaxe though.....

Sam Adams is another good Oktoberfest beer.
