Fall Beers- Oktoberfest/Marzens Anyone?

My fingers are still crossed for a release of Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock this year...

If and when it becomes available, my wife will think I am nuts, because I plan to buy a lot of it.

Out doing some grilling right now some nice pork loin marinated in Ah-so chinese BBQ sauce :thumbup:
this fall beer...pumpkin head by shipyard brewery in Kennebunkport Maine!

Looks good man, enjoy it! I've not tried many of the pumpkin beers, maybe I'll have to do that this fall.

I'm enjoying some of the SWEET NECTAR myself. Always gotta remember to take it easy though when you bring out your BIG chopper!!

Well, I gotta say, I'm a bit underwhelmed by Sam's Ofest this year, seems a little off. I've had the DOGtoberfest before, I love Flying Dog's offerings (especially Gonzo!!!), and it was good, I'll have to give the Brooklyn a try. I'm almost glad I didn't buy more SA's Ofest, it's kinda "weak" in comparison to the malty goodness of the Upland Ofest. Spaten's is usually pretty good, and I've liked Leinenkugel's in the past as well, just another good excuse to go out and buy more beer!

Not that you'd be biased being from MA or anything.... but do you think it tastes different this year? I sure do, maybe my palate has just changed. I've only tried a couple of them on two seperate occasions so far, but they don't seem the way I remember.

I haven't tried sam oktoberfest yet but the sam summer seemed a little less flavorful this year?? I also see sam on sale alot more lately:confused:

Maybe they finally have fallen into the quantity vs quality delema:confused:

I love those but have not found them anywhere so far this year.

It could be them. Before this year, I was so-so on Oktoberfest. I found it a bit too harsh.

This year - very sweet and smooth. Not sure if that's what they are trying for, but I like it.

I'm more a Noble Pils sorta guy, but that's just my roots. There is this place in Northampton, MA - the Northampton Brewery (Go figure!). Been there for 25 years or more. Noble Pils tastes exactly like I remember their pale ale tasting 20 years ago. What memories that brings back. I was probably insane back then, too, but it reminds me of a more care-free time.

Dangit. This is just beer! LOL

I gotta make a drive to The Brewery. (As it was known back then - Sam Adams was a start-up the year prior to it opening. I remember the "Revolting Beer Drinker" shirts in college. Wish I still had one.)

BTW - yet another bizarre factoid - Anyone remember Jim Koch on 60 Minutes about 20 years ago??? That was flippin funny. He was just sitting there downing a beer the entire interview. ROTFL!
