Another beautiful fall day and a hike in Harriman. The parking lot had more cars in it than I've ever seen, so bushwacking was an imperative today. I'm always scouting nice spots to camp when I'm off the trail and this would have been a nice spot except some tards had obviously been here first. Now I have no problem with someone stashing some cookware and tools in a crevice at a campsite they may visit regularly but this is just f-ing disgusting
But my next discovery was much more interesting. I'm looking for a way up the mountain that is passable when I seen an interesting rock structure. Hmmmm, nice little shelter
A few yards away is another cool shelter
And then a few more yards from there and I found the big cave
It's hard to tell from these shots but it's pretty big inside, several people could comfortably hang out in there. It also looks well ventilated enough to have a fire in and it almost has separate "rooms"
Found this well-worn note inside from the Park Commission, guess I'm not the first one here. 5000 B.C., that's almost hard to imagine.
