Fall Trackrock Hammer-in #33

Wish I could have been there, I could have used a break from the eighth grade girl drama I have at home... Seriously, sorry to hear that, Trackrock has always been a wonderful gathering of people for me and of course, there's always one or two in every group that needs to take a long walk in the woods.

I saved a spot in my Campground for you just in case! Same spot as last year. Same spot next year. Let me know and they'll be room for you

First time and really an impressive event the Hammer In is.....

That un-cookable onion, that un-lightable charcoal, the disappearing cobbler and of course LH swinging the sledge one handed making a mockery of all other girly men present.

Not to mention the Nissan Versa, potentially the worst car on the planet available as a rental, turned into a proper corner carver in the GA mountains with 4 men and a trunk full of beer and food for dinner....twice. Should have grabbed that burl.....

Thanks to Carl and the other forgers, The Fiddleback Gang, Survival Weekend Gang, Chefs Murray and Vance, Mr. Wilmont and his survival camper bent but not broken, and everyone else I didn't mention. See you in March for the next one....

You guys that didn't take the time to visit with Dirk Loot on Friday really missed out. Very interesting gentleman with exceptional skills both as a knifemaker and a photographer. He's good enough to even make my knives look ok.

If you need quality pics made, I highly recommend him. He is local now (formerly from So Africa) in Cumming close to Fiddleback and a lot of other great knifemakers. Let me know and I can send you contact info.

Dirk stopped by the shop yesterday. He is very close by. He is a GREAT knifemaker and a great photographer as well.

Had a blast at this past one (my first), easing myself in the last day. When is the next one, March I think? I want to reserve a spot and throw it on the calendar at work......and remember to bring ingredients for 2nd cobbler....so good with bluebell vanilla.

I'm long over due posting in this thread, no excuses for the technological challenges I have loading and viewing photos, although I may have just made one. This Trackrock was exceptional from the camaraderie, to the food, drink and of course the forging. This time around I spent a good deal of time working the forge with a number of folks, but the majority of the time was with Liam Hoffman, Chis Williams (Wilmont Grinders) and the "WHEELMAN" @PolRoger . If any of you were fortunate, and had enough alcohol in you to sit through the 1.5hr live IG feed of us forging a boar spear you would have seen Harland become an overnight Internet sensation. Secondary to all of this (but not off by much) was the exceptional collection of motorcycles that were in camp that weekend from the 69' Bonnie to ndmiller ndmiller bad ass GS. I'll reserve a spot in this thread for some of the video I shot, which does include a clip of the afore mentioned one handed sledge show Liam put on, but you may have to check social media for those. Hearing that 600 lb anvil sing is a thing of beauty. Can't wait for March, Area 51 awaits!IMG_0724.JPG FullSizeRender.jpg IMG_0547.JPG IMG_0530.JPG IMG_0569.JPG IMG_0596.JPG IMG_0560.JPG IMG_0585.JPG IMG_0562.JPG IMG_0600.JPG
