Fallkniven destruction test!!!

Here is photo of the torque wench set up. It is mounted on a Buck Intrepid. I have to add a small video camera on the scale and I need to set up a gauge or chart to show how many degrees the knife is flexing. This should give some better data. Any more suggestions about this let me know.

Noss, I don't know if you have received the email about the A1 I'm gonna send you. I haven't sent mail in this forum before, so I don't know whether the messages was sent or not. If you're still interested in the knife please reply.

Nimravus Nut:Yes.... I received your email and I sent you a reply about 1hr later to your first email with my info. I guess there was a problem on my end.. I just sent you 2 more emails from two different addresses. let me know if you get them. check your bulk folder also.

Thanks man

I got your e-mail. A1 is going out today. Sorry about the late reply, I got too busy with work and kids and I couldn't get on the net yesterday.

Cheers,

Nimravus Nut: No problem..Thanks for sending me a replacement A1 bro.
It's very kind of you to do my friend. :)

Thanks
Noss

noss, consider the length of the knife & the resulting moment arm for the torque test.

Peter discusses this on the Fallkniven testing page on their website.

Tiger Dude: Thanks for suggestion.

Nimravus Nut: I received the replacement A1 you sent me. Thank you very much. I'm very proud of it and I wanted to share it with everyone. Below are two photos of it.

In this photo you can clearly see the lamination line. I could not see it before under the black coating on the one I tested.

One Awesome Knife

While I cringe every time I see these tests....I DO feel they go a long way in showing to just what extent a knife can be taken.

Would I ever pound my knife into concrete, chop spring steel with it or crank it side ways and everywhere in between? Of course not! Better tools for that! Heck, I bought a A1 after the tests.......(shrug)

Noss4:
Knife lovers will argue these kinds of tests endlessly and forever. IMHO for knifemakers that dare label their products "survival knives" tools that good people's lives will depend on. Your tests are brutal, but valid. I like your site very much. Thanks, and keep at it.

Ahhhh, I am NOT interested in the idiot things that Noss does to knives. THAT is not scientific. He destroys knives. Yeah, so what. There is NOTHING useful in what Noss4 does. :thumbdn::thumbdn:

Totally agree. It's easy to destroy knives with sledge hammers and all the crap he does. How helpful is that? All i know from that is, dont hit the knife with a sledge hammer! These are not real world tests at all.

Nimravus Nut: Thanks Bro.

Blackwind: You understand perfectly. Some people don't understand that people do use their blades hard and don't keep them in a drawer and wipe the dust off on occasion. Knives have other uses under certain circumstances then just cutting weather they are designed for it or not. I have shown this in the videos for everyone to see. Some are just narrow
minded and can not think outside the box.

LJK: Glad you enjoy the site. My tests are brutal and they are meant to be I test hard use knives. I don't sugar coat the knives during a test and don't hit them with flowers. I like knives also like everyone else. I like knives even more now that I have seen first hand what they are capable of beyond just cutting.

CanonRebelXTi: You got it wrong. a lot of the knives I have tested are not easy to destroy with a hammer only a few have broken during this. It takes more then you think to fully destroy a knife. On some I have to use very extreme methods to do so. This is what I explore and try to answer during the tests. All knives can be broken but some break easy compared to others.

I agree. These tests give the knife enthusiast/survivalist a good
idea of what can be expected in extreme circumstances. There is a lot of
marketing b.s. out there and for knives, this calls them on their b.s.(or
lack thereof). I wish there was a sight like this that torture tested
firearms(not destructive tests, but alot of ammo fired in a short time).I would
love to see a test of all the popular 1911s to see once and for all which
ones are up to spec and which ones aren't. 10, 000 rounds rapid fire
would be nice. :D

Anyway, I have bought a Cold Steel G.I. Tanto because of your site Noss.
I can't wait till you test the test and the SOG Seal 2000. Are you going to test a Ranger RD series? By the way, love the Jason
mask. How about Mike Myers for a change because of the season? ;)

yerscattergun: The Seal 2000 test is in the works. Shouldn't be to much longer. Yes I want to test a Ranger for sure. I need to get my hands on one.
The GI Tanto is a beater. Ugly and tough.

It is Halloween soon. A Mike Myers Mask for a midnight test would be cool.
Complete With evil pumpkin carving test and pumpkin smashing tests.
