So, after much pondering and reading reviews, and seeing some size comparison pictures(which I again, thank you all for), I took the plunge on the F1.
From what I can tell it should meet my needs perfectly, and will become my "go-to" outdoors fixed blade, supplemented by my Victorinox Farmer for smaller, more precise work, and ofcourse can opener duty. Rounding out my modern "Nessmuk trio" is the Fiskar's 14" hatchet. All of which will be making my vacation camping trip this May.
Now, there's just one problem; Waiting on the UPS man for 3 days :D
So, if anyone here feels pity on a fellow knifeknut and is willing to share some
F1 porn, or regale me with camping/fishing/hunting/hiking stories where the F1 proved invaluable, I'm all ears.
Remember, pictures are like pacifiers for waiting knife enthusiasts :thumbup:

It is. I fired it once.

Well, six times. I still have 14 rounds of 454 left. I probably always will. I'd rather shoot the hottest +P .45 LC then the 454 again!
 
Damn talk about a wrist twister with that snubby barrel! But I'd want it in bear country for sure. Still need to get another F1. I traded one a way a long time ago, shoulda kept it.

When William Burroughs died Hunter S Thompson wrote a story about going shooting with him and letting Burroughs who was a skinny old dude in his 70's shoot the .454. I wish I could find the article it was a good read.

Burroughs, ever the gun lover insisted on shooting it and according to Thompson it nearly lifted him off the ground and made the back of his hand raw and yet after the thing shaking the sh*t out of him he handed it back unfazed and said something like "Nice. A very nasty little peice of machinery you got there"

Is that lanyard on there so when you fire it the pistol doesnt go flying to far off?
 
UPS arrived today, yay!!! :thumbup: :D I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed with the out of the box sharpness of the F1. Haven't had a chance to get out and give it a field test, yet. Initial impressions are that this may be THE one. Fits like a glove, easy on the eyes, good size and shape for utility.
Time and an exhaustive workout of the blade will tell the tale though. So, with that said, on to the good stuff. The pictures :cool: Bear in mind that I am horrible with a camera. :o My lovely wife offered to model a couple shots, with the stipulation that I can only show her hands. hehe

Looks nice, Gautier! Are you sure you really spend time in the outdoors? Yer hands look mighty soft for a guy. ;) :D
 
It's all about the moisturizer, Brian, all about the moisturizer. A little bit of aloe, and camphor sleep with some Isotoner gloves on. :p

No manicure, she does her own nails. My claws on the other hand look like they were sent through a woodchipper, but SOMEBODY had to hold the knife :p

congrats... you're going to love the F1...:thumbup: it is an excellant all around field blade....
i ended up getting a custom kydex sheath made for mine, from normark (eric), i couldn't stand the sheath it came with...:o

Hah! Do you live in bear country Robert? That is some big medicine. I feel so inadequate with just a .38 J frame and a SAK! I need to upgrade. Nice combo.
 
In the spirit of the thread, it would be great if we could see some spine pictures. Especially if it includes an F1 and an S1. I just can't decide which to get!:o

Great find btw, soft skin, nice nails...and the knife ain't bad either.:D
