Fallkniven Knives

I've had two f1 and A1's for quite some time, one of each being a custom, and recently bought an S1. In my opinion, the stock S1 (w/kydex sheath) is THE best compromise all-purpose knife in the business...for many reasons. Sure, it only marginal as a small utility knife and as a chopper, but if I could only carry one survival knife with me for an extended multiday backpack trip, the S1 would be it without doubt. I also have many Bark River and Busse knives to compare them to....which I'll soon be selling. Just not that impressed with them for the price.

I'll probably end up buying the blanks eventually.

For now I'll enjoy the already finished blades.

I went back and forth on purchasing a F1 or NL5. I ended going with the F1 because it cost half as much which would allow me to use it without worry. The F1 is an outstanding knife and like my other Fallkniven purchases it didtn't dissapoint. I will probably end up getting the NL5 anyway.

I've got the NL5 (Idun), and it's truly a beautiful knife with a most excellent broad blade. I like the blade even better than the F1's, although they're extremely similar. The two biggest negatives for the Idun (for me) were the thin stick tang hiding beneath that beautiful grip, and the oval shape of the grip, which is too slippery when wet. Beautiful knife, though. I'll probably end up selling mine fairly soon.

I would love to buy the one with the fully enclosed leather sheath, it'll be my edc no doubt!

I love my Fallknivens! This thread needs more pics! :)

>>where did you get the sheaths for them?<<

I was wondering the same thing. The one for the Idun looks great!

Thanks! The Thor sheath is is actually the one that comes from the factory, I just dyed it myself with leather dye.

I'm at work right now, and I can't remember the maker of the Idun's sheath, but I can look when I get home!
I just added a modded firesteel to it, and attached the stricker to the back with leather cord.....

Finally got the package that contained my F1 & H1 today!

I must say i am very happy with this purchase.

The knives are both amazing and came extremely sharp.

I finally see what people mean by the F1 handles being just a bit small and that the H1 fits much better. That being said a set of gloves will solve that problem very easily!

One thing that i noticed was that the F1 zytel sheath is not the same as the one pictured all over this forum.

First it doesn't included the F1 stamp on it, it only says Fallkniven, and the material doesn't feel the same as the H1 zytel.

Has anyone seen this kind of sheath before?

Either way it shouldn't be a problem, and i have a leather sheath coming in to replace it soon:)

Here are some pics, nothing fancy since we have all seen these knives before lol

I too love my S1. I consider it my 'if you only had one knife , knife' , it also resides right near my B.O.B.
There isn't anything I think this knife could not successfully accomplish.

I have looked into a few threads on here on sharpening convex knives, but is there something you recommend over the rest?

Convex sharpening is easy enough for a monkey to do. Just watch some tutorials and then make or buy a strop and some compound. Also buy some sandpaper and a dense rubber pad to lay it on (some use mousepad, I like a denser material). You only really need the sandpaper if you let the edge get super dull, or damaged.

Watching review videos of the vg10 seems like everyone likes it. Only negative I saw was the edge will chip if you are batoning and hit a small stone. So as long as your careful should be a great knife.

I have an F1. I agree with you. I think the S1 is the better, all around knife.

Another S1 fan here.My favorite of the Fallkniven line-up.

Some people complain about the handle being too thin. It's actually thicker than the F1's until you get near the last inch or so near the pommel...then it's only a couple of mil thinner there in width. no big deal to me. Compared to the F1, the S1 has more reach , easier for batonning ( if you do it) , sharper point and a thicker , sturdier blade.

For 40gm. and a few bucks more ,it sealed the deal for me.

Nice to see all the endorsement for the S1 since I'm hoping to make it my new go-to knife. Even took the time to make a handle for it. The Thermorun handle is probably pretty darn good and would have served my purposes just fine. But after finding out about the blade blanks I just couldn't resist.

Is that your actual knife ? What a beauty ! :)

The more I use my S1 the happier I am that I own one. It is probably one of the coolest gifts I have ever received , a gift that will last my life.
