Fallkniven S1 Forest,Bark River or other cabin knife

Well, I guess the consensus of opinion here is that BRKT & Fallkniven make a bunch of really great knives!

Doesn't make pickin' just one an easy thing to do...

Unless someone wants a fatter handle installed on the Fallkniven S1, I don't see a problem with the handle on the S1.

I agree, I think the S1 handle is fine the way it is.

Though I understand that people might want scales of Micarta, etc...

If it matters to you, Bark River knives are made in the USA, and Fallkniven are made in Japan.

It matterrs, but I just don't find most Bark River knives interesting. Not saying they aren't fine knives. But, most of them just don't float my boat.

And a man's gotta do whatever floats his boat, or trips his trigger, or......:D:D:D

The previous post wasn't meant to put down Fallkniven at all. Just for information because this seems to be extremely important to some people. :p

That sheath is very nice! It looks brindled at the end of the retaining strap....almost like a wood burl...

This matters to me very much, but something made in Japan or in most of the UK doesn;t bother me near as much as other foreign ventures. While I search in vain for USA made products from underwear to knives, if I can;t find it, I track less blood in on the carpet when I come home with something from Japan and UK.

Here is a little on the Nessmuk. Several makers on this site make them. They are a narrow knife that slices like a lazer yet the width of the blade up and down gives it good strength and makes it a fine indoor/outdoor knife.

I can post a picture of mine tomorrow. Mine was made by Blessing Knives. Simple buy very effective

Yeah, were did that sheath come from?
Could we possibly see a pic of the blade out of the sheath?
I've just started putting custom scales on the Fallkniven blanks.
It's a lot of fun! I want to get some nice handmade sheaths for them.

I'll recommend the Fallkniven, mainly because for a knock-around knife at a lake cabin, I'd want more stainless than Barkies A2. If you can spend the extra and go for the laminated Fallkniven that would even be better.
(Best would, IMO, be a Bob Dozier--but only for cutting.)

Hey Ilbruche,
Who did that sheath?

Desertaliloff made it for me. He did a trio for me a while back.
Ranger Shiv, S1, HI Karda.

I've refinished this handle since this picture was taken. The blade is from a regular S1, not a blank. I hated the rubber handle so much I cut it off. It tapered too thin near the pommel. So I mortised the dyed/stabilized maple burl scales. I'll take a recent pic of it soon.
