I have always been a truck guy for as long as I can remember but when it came time to trade in my last one I had a twinge to test drive a Jeep. One drive and I was hooked. I have never owned any kind of Jeep so this came as a surprise to my wife. Then I told her it would be possible to put a third row seat in it and she was all game.

We haven't taken a family vacation since our triplets were born and now that they are almost 3 we decided to give it a shot. So last week we loaded all the kids in and took the 3 hour (ended up being about 4.5 hours with all the potty breaks) drive down to Moab to see what my new toy could do. Needless to say I was not disapointed. In fact, I was blown away at what the Rubi could drive over with ease.

I wanted to share the fun my family and I had with my Busse family so here are the few pics we have. We did a lot more but nobody wanted to get out to take pics. Hope you all enjoy them.

I nearly chickened out on going up Hell's Gate after watching two guys ahead of me almost flip backwards:eek:

But it wasn't a problem at all

Cool pics. Good looking family.

Sounds like a blast. How many 3yr olds get to do such things...

Moab is my favorite place on the planet (that I've been to so far). Thanks for the great pictures. :D

Pretty cool J, thats a good looking family you got also. I used to have two different jeeps and they are tons of fun. Glad to hear you had a good time looks like the weather was nice also. Thanks for sharing.

Those Rubicons are some of the most off road capable stock vehicles to be had. The tires they come with aren't the best, but that's easily fixed. Thanks for sharing, looks like a lot of fun...

Thanks for the kind words everybody.

Vege-Taco, it is definitely at the top of my favorite places list. I think everybody should add "jeeping in Moab" to their bucket list.

Doug, the weather was perfect the whole time. Mid to upper 70's every day.

GregS, they definitely are very capable and yeah, the stock wheels and tires are not the best but I remedied that after about 2 weeks of owning it by adding a 3.5" lift and 35's. Now that thing in darn near unstoppable. ;)

I gotta say, I find that to look pretty scary. Be safe out there.

oh and btw, NICE PICS and good lookin family you got there.

That's awesome. Hopefully the kids weren't in the vehicle during the Hell's Gate climb. If they were in the vehicle, your wife has a level of intestinal fortitude unsurpassed by other women.

Nice pics, Hell's Gate looks intense. I'll bet your kids had a blast too:thumbup:

Are there 3 rows of seats in a 4 door wrangler, and did you dress two of your kids in the same blue stripe shirt? :D

*edit - Just read the part about having 3 rows of seats.

So awesome!

Wish I had a 4 door Rubicon!

When my truck finally gave up the ghost I ended up with an XTerra. It is decent off road, but would never have even attempted those climbs. The suspension is too soft. If I dropped some real money on a lift, lockers and air bags, and maybe even an axle conversion I might try those.

Also, in the time I lived in Utah, I never made the Moab drive. Had a few opportunities, oncluding a motorcycle (off road) opportunity but work got in the way!

Soulrack, the kids were definitely not in the Jeep for Hell's Gate. I almost didn't go up it myself so having the kids in was out of the question.

adrock, yeah, my wife dresses our two little boys in the same shirts some times and it drives me crazy. They are identical and sometimes I can't tell them apart when she does that.

That's hilarious! :D My Algebra teacher in high school had an identical twin brother. I remember twice he came to class and asked how his brother did teaching the class the day before. Nobody even suspected.
