My new BK5 just showed up to work. Really like this knife. Very light. Can't wait to strip it and get the micarta on.
One thins that I noticed as soon as I took it out... is that... the sheath is too short for the knife.... is this a known issue? I had never heard this before.. but after I noticed the problem, I just did a search and see that others have reported this issue for some time...
The top of the knife is about 1/2" or so longer than the plastic insert and it actually sticks through and cuts the nylon of the sheath on the bottom...
I don't think it's enough to actually be dangerous... but... it's definitely an oversight... I assume they just used the same sheath as the BK7 because it's close enough to work, while the BK9 sheath would be overkill?
Anyone else seen this? I'm actually a bit disappointed. Brand new sheath and it's already cut.... KABAR has always had much better attention to detail than this.
The knife is awesome though...
