Fancy new BK5!

Interesting...Never had this issue. The only way I can see this happening to the old sheaths would be if you took off the scales and let the blank fall through the plastic insert. The BK-7 and 5 both use the same sheath, well at least the old sheaths were the same, no idea about the new ones...I'd still e-mail or call Ka-Bar, even if you dont get it replaced it's still better to report the problem anyway.

Hey Uncle Malice.......

I obviously can't get Tooj on the phone a 8:45.......But I wan't you to know that a call will be into Tooj about 12 hours from now.......I dunno what is up but expect answers soon.....Pure speculation on my part........Maybe the wrong sheath made it into the box ???.........

There are humans involved.... We will make you whole on this........

Already done. Stripped, sanded around the tang to remove machine marks, apple cider vinegar patina under grips, micarta scales with black liners, and stainless hardware. Now she needs a new sheath. ;)

It looks like the liner was a tad short in the sheath. If it was a 1/4 inch longer, would this still have happened?
Man, that BK5 looks good stripped and gripped. I think I will have to trade for one now.

Thank you very much, Ethan. Sorry I missed your post a bit ago when I posted the pic. I appreciate it. Was just surprised, that's all. I know you're a very stand up guy and so is the company.

That's why we love your knives! :)

Cheers.

Man I'm oving this knife so much more and more. I gotta get one.

grind off and round the knife tip - problem solved.

sounds like Ethan and Toooj got you covered. possibly a wrong sheath. i could handily compare sheaths i have, but it's late, and i'm tired... i didn't think the 5 sheath was the same as the 7.

now i want a bk5 now. curses! :o looks like amazon is gonna love me today...

So, is this short sheath issue worked out? I am planning on getting one, will be the second Becker to my mix, but want to make sure the sheath thing was just a fluke. And, any thoughts on a good place to pick one up?

Any update on this? I have a brand new 5 that I bought for my BIL who retires at the end of this month. I pulled it out and it is the same situation. It doesn't have a hole because it hasn't been sheathed. I don't want his first Becker to be having issues. His retirement plans are for a lot of camping and cooking. Sorry for the low quality pic... but it shows the problem.

I recently purchased a BK-5. After reading this thread I thought I better check it. Sure enough, tip is just visible through the bottom of the sheath. I'll keep an eye on this tread and see what the solution is.

The BK5 stripped looks sweet :)

Mr Becker, I really like the way you contribute and help your customers here.

Very cool :)
