Fancy new BK5!

Yikes. So it would seem that mine was not a fluke and this is just the way that the BK5 sheaths are?

Ethan, did you ever hear back from Toooj?

Got my new bk5 in yesterday and the sheath is the same. The plastic insert is just a hair to short.

The 5 is awesome and I got the 15 to go with it! Amazing pair no Becker enthusiast should be with out!!!

Sorry guys , I promised to get to Tooj about this and simply forgot....Have note on the coffee pot......

Ethan

keep us posted, I want one but they were out of stock at the cheapest e-tailer I know but getting the 16 instead.

Any verdict on this? Did you get a new sheath that works? Was it a one time issue (wrong sheath in the box)?

I haven't seen anything new from this. There have been quite a few others that report the same thing. It seems like the BK5 just uses the BK7 sheath, but it's about 1/4"-1/2" too long for it. I do have a kydex sheath coming for the BK5 though.

The 9 sheath is signficantly TOO large for the knife. The 7 sheath is too large, width ways(a lot of rattle), but it's just a little bit too short. It really needs something about a 1/2" longer and maybe... 1/2"-3/4" more narrow, in my opinion.

I don't mind if the sheath is a bit too long, was thinking remov the liner heat gun it and form it to fit. I sent Toooj an e-mail to see if they have a fix yet. Will post back when he replies, or he might pop in here sent him a link to this thread. Thanks UM

I know this thread is old, but I just bought a BK5 and it is right on point. The cordura sheath is a bit too short and the tip pokes out the top. Seems Kabar hasn't addressed the issue since this is still the case over a year later. Any updates on what people are doing? Does Kabar have an answer or is this an aftermarket/make it yourself situation?

Thanks

I bought one about a month ago and same issue. Sheath too short, point sticks through. I put it in a spec-ops 8" blade sheath and it fits just fine. They really should address the sheath issue for this amazing knife though.

I'd like to see pics of this.

There are some pics of others on the first two pages of posts in this thread. I hadn't really noticed the issue since I got my BK5 in December. I checked it out today, and it does look like a hole will wear in the bottom of the sheath just like the pictures after some period of use. However, I didn't want a nylon sheath that would collect dirt and food in the kitchen and camp, so I'd already picked up an excellent kydex from Azwelke. The BK5 has been my favorite Becker knife, and I particularly like it carried in kydex.

AKK, don't let that put you off the 5. It's a GLORIOUS blade. It's definitely one of the best in the lineup. If you don't jam the blade all the way down you don't have that problem, or if you grab a spec-ops sheath for it.
