I pretty much agree with everything you said about comp locks. I generally use a saber grip, but there is inadequate support for the thumb with a comp lock; I can extend my thumb as far forward as possible and it helps some, but then the grip feels unnatural. I tried carrying a Military 2, and I really like the knife except for the comp lock. I decided to switch to an old-style Military, and with a saber grip the difference in feel is much better than with an M2. The same applies to a Sage 5 vs. Sage 1 – I much prefer the Sage 1. I hope the Sage 6 is an improvement, and that the one grip is not dished out like on the Sage 5. I will not buy any more knives with the existing comp lock, like on the Sage 5 and Military 2.I really like liner locks. Im lefty and just got used to using right handed liners in my left hand. Obviously the comp lock isnt much different to operate lefty, but I think the smaller surface area to contact with the thumb is part of it. I also really do not like feeling the comp lock in the web of my hand when cutting with a lot of force.
They also have a lot of great features, for example, smoothness and strength.
I just like liner locks and frame locks better. Thats why I carry a Millie or a GB2
In keeping with the main idea of this thread, I would like to see the older style Military model offered with the same steels as the M2, including Magnacut, 15V, S90V and others.
