Fantasy Spyderco Release

A 3.45" version of the Police 4, called the Investigator.

Or constable. Or chief. Like those little revolvers from Colt and S&W.
Could you type in a link I could enter in google to see an image ? I googled but nada.
I am fascinated by such knives and have "made" many : big/long handle ; shorter more controllable blade . . .
or as my girl friend said after I showed her my Opinel #12 after I shortened the blade to about two and a half inches :

🙎 Congratulations ! You've made a box knife.
🙁
PS: DUUUUIHHHH
I didn't read the title of this thread.
I'm still open to seeing one if anybody has seen a shortened Police.
I already had my Spyderco Police G10 K390 open on the coffee table as I read your post (not modding that one though 😍).

There's a guy on here that does an excellent job of shortening Kaparas, I forget his handle though.....

PM2 with rounded scale edges, similar to the Shaman. Thinner blade, even just slightly, with less distal taper, more like the Stetch 2 XL LW or the Endura 4. But keep the Para 2 blade silhouette. Super steel blade, but something more exciting than the S30V family. Visually distinct scales, i.e. not black G10 or light brown micarta.

The general form factor of the PM2 is just about perfect and would make an excellent platform for a re-spin. It's been my primary knife since 2010 so I know it well, and the biggest drawback is the boxy scales because they get uncomfortable during extended use. Also, I've always felt that the thicker blade near the handle doesn't really do anything because the distal taper and thin point preclude any hard use.

Contoured titanium integral Gayle Bradley 2 with CF inlays front and back and a 4" satin hand rubbed M4 blade
Ide prefer Cru-wear, but damn that would be the Benza Killer for sure. Integral would be cool but even just two slabs with standoffs would still be amazing.

Sal Glesser Sal Glesser pretty please?????????

Slightly larger version of the One Eyed Jack with plain micarta scales and without the extra work on the backspacer to hold down cost. Another Goddard release in any steal without the coated blade would be sweet as well.

PM3 Wharncliffe in 15V

and...please, please, please a lefty PM3 (I'd take it is S30V like the PM2 but would prefer Magnacut.) THANKS!

If money wasn't a thing right now I've already thought of buying a 15 military 2 just to chop the blade shorter to make a wharncliff (or close to it) blade that also fully fills out the handle and drop that blade into a pm2 or para 3. To make exactly what you said

I'd love a Manix 2XL redesign without the choil, pretty pretty please :) don't care too much about the steel, I think S30V is perfectly fine.

But without a choil, you'd have so much cutting length in that knife, it would elevate it to the next level!

Offering a finger choil and without would be a really nice addition. For those of us with blade length limitations it's always a pain to see a knife with a finger choil means the actual cutting length is that much less.

Cruwear GB2 with a RIL on one side and real Carbon Fiber on the other.

Im not a huge fan of the comp lock but I bet they’de sell like hotcakes

If you don't mind satisfying my curiosity, why don't you like them? The only thing I think I might be liking better is the button lock compression lock copies from Vosteed that I think is just a copy from the Smock.

I really like liner locks. Im lefty and just got used to using right handed liners in my left hand. Obviously the comp lock isnt much different to operate lefty, but I think the smaller surface area to contact with the thumb is part of it. I also really do not like feeling the comp lock in the web of my hand when cutting with a lot of force.

They also have a lot of great features, for example, smoothness and strength.

I just like liner locks and frame locks better. Thats why I carry a Millie or a GB2

Wow, so many great ideas in this thread. More K390, yes. More 15V, yes. Seki doing Golden models in K390, yes, as long as they can up the QC. Magnacut / K390 / 15V / Cruwear are all wins. I don't see enough 3V in Spydercos lineup, and it is a great steel. Maybe see if whoever ends up with the patents (Erasteel?) can do a run of 3Vmod as it reads VERY promising from Larrin's dissection of it.

I also agree about the imported line, like the Tenacious...such good designs, with a lot of thought put into the design, including the blade/ricasso/handle area. I think Spyderco should bump up the budget steels to 14c28n. I think these knives would be given a lot more consideration from the regulars with this upgraded steel. Also, would like to see a US-made premium version of something like the Tenacious, as it is such a great design.

Mini Kapara, 100% YES. It looks like 'the chop' also gives it more utility - it appears as if you could use it flat against a cutting board. It must have a better handle surface though, because the smooth carbon fiber is too slick and it would be too good of an EDC design to not increase it's practicality with better texture.

Spydiechef in Magnacut, yes. Give it a more chamfered access to the spydiehole while we are at it.

A mini-Manix somewhat around the size of the Sage 5, but with the ambi-CBBL lock (or a new ambi lock). Or a Shark Lock. Or a Tri-Ad lock.

How about some choil-less versions of some popular models?

Different blade shapes options for PM3, PM2, Manix, maybe others.

Smock in 15V as a sprint...I can imagine it would be insanely popular.

More lefty compression locks.

An axis/crossbar lock sprint run.

A collab/license using the Shark lock and Triad-lock.
