I see Steve got banned. This had nothing to do with the HI forum.

In the words of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band,

May the longtime sun shine upon you,
all love surround you,
and the pure light within you,
guide your way home.

We all wrestle with our demons.

... Who knew back then that I would end up in the detective business for 20 years and go through some nasty things. I left that field one day and eventually career changed to something mild. But events from those 20 years bother me, and when I'm not at work I try to just stay home and work on my knives. I've read that ex LEO's and ex military vets can have similar issues. I've been left with an agression thing as a result of way back then and never know when I'll blow up. So, best to simply avoid people. Maybe I'll go git me some toads.

Now I wonder what the he** the future will bring? If the past would leave me alone it might be bright. Nah, who am I kidding.

But, knife and sheath making is very rewarding. My next problem will be what to do with all the knives I make. Haven't been able to part with any of them yet!

Acknowledged. Wouldn't it be nice if the demons went away.

But, I silver soldered my first guard on a blade today and it was good. It was a Morseth blade from Brusletto. What a super blade.

I hope that knife turns out well for you, Steve. If you want to e-mail me a picture when it gets done I'll post it in the Morseth thread.

As a person who was banned once myself I hope it all works out for him and maybe he can come back sometime:thumbup:

Stuff happens, I wish Steve the best of luck in untangling whatever knot's got him tangled.

Steve announced in a thread about childhood how he never hurt an animal and didn't know anyone who had. I found that strange, almost unbelievable growing up on the streets of America. But I took Steve at face value and did not respond defensively. He seemed to respond to this and dialogue ensued. This is what we hope for, of course. Apparently he had issues on other forums than here. I wish him well. I think we make a mistake sometimes in quick labeling. I think a broken vessel can be mended, and we all have faults.
We've a lot of new folks here and I've been glad to see all given a real chance.

Everyone's got a few demons. How we manage them (or how they manage us) is important. Steve pissed a few people off, but who hasn't?

I didn't personally see anything banworthy there, but I'm not the one running the show.

Hate to see this. One of the great things about the forum is that it allows people who feel they disagree about a lot of things to come together over one thing and see how many things they actually agree upon.:grumpy:

Well said. I'm glad to hear that this forum wasn't involved. Steve said what he was thinking which wasn't always politic, but I admire that even when the shots are directed my way. I hope it all gets worked out and we see him stop by again.

I started a war or two over at Wine & Cheese :foot:....one can pick up an enemy there faster then one can a hooker! I tend to dodge that forum now :D

Sorry 'bout Steve, though 'till I see what got him tossed I won't have much to say. ;)

I also feel bad that Steve was banned.:(
Steve was indeed one of us and as long as Steve stayed in our two forums he was just fine and one of the good guys.
Steve's banning is a good reason to look about and see what bothers you as an individual and when something does bother you, as Steve knew how the LEOs bothered him, it's a good idea to stay out of such discussions and such threads.
Sometimes when we feel real strongly about something it is too hard for us too see the forest for the trees and we wind up getting ourselves into trouble.:o :(

He is still one of us!
We did not ban him.
Why should he not be welcome here?
This upsets me!
Maybe I'm a blouse ! !

I'm sorry to hear this news. I, like Brent, just wish he could still come here. He is one of us and will be missed. I must look further into this. I've posted on whine and cheese, but kinda quit doing it and focus on this section and the makers section. Lots to learn at both places, and some real great folks, families really at both spots. Most of my posts, though, and my forum family is here. I'll miss seeing Steve around.

Edited. I read the posts and don't get the banning. I hope that statement doesn't offend anyone. I'm not trying to irritate, inflame, or troll out by saying it. I trust our mods, both the HI mods and the super mods too. They've protected us all in the past, and their work is appreciated. Also, I don't have a vast understanding of forum politics or forum operations, as our mods and the BF super mods do, so I'm not trying to question anyone elses judgement. Steve will be missed here.

I too didn't see a real banworth action on Steve's part. However, as I have said before, I don't make the judgement calls on anything that goes on here at bladeforums. I think our Mods do the best they can with the info that they have. I'll miss Steve. I hope that he just gets a drunk tank ban and comes back to see us.

Well I think Steve should at least be warned before being banned........Sorta like a shot accross the bow........he deserve that at least......

Out of our hands. I don't like second guessing. If I were Steve I'd write a nice letter and ask to come back some time. Hollow was banned and came back. I'm trying to get him a teaching position in Austria; there's a vacancy.....Just Kidding!!!!!

I'm surprised I wasn't banned a couple years ago.

I think we all say some things at some time that we look back on and say, "Oooo, man that might come back and bite me in the @$$." I think at some point all of us that post on a regular basis probably say or do things that would get us banned if they were not glossed over by the greater amount of "good" things we say.
I got a return email from Steve, and i forwarded this thread to him in a word doc since those that aren't registered can't see most of the forums. I told him about Hollow's ban, but that it was going to be a bit tricky because HD's banning was sort of handled "in-house" so to speak. To told him to write one of the mods that he is comfortable with to see what could be done. IMHO, a 60-90 day "cool your jets" ban would probably be good 'nuff. According to Steve, he has not been able to get in touch with whomever banned him to plead his case. As I have said numerous times, i think bladeforums is a fair place with fair mods. They let things slide in forums where things tend to get heated, but they don't allow trolls to creep in and walk all over the members. Spark and the supermods have shown to be fair if not a little hardnosed. Hey, i respect that. I don't want a fearless leader to be wishy washy. Could you imagine how many e-mails Spark and the other supermods would have to field if they took a review look at every troll's case that felt he had been handed the short end of the stick? They would never get anything done.
Anyway, I hope Steve can get this worked out. He does not come across to me as an unstable guy or as a troll that would by a platinum membership to hide his trolling ways <coughburafancough>. I hope that if nothing else Steve can find out why he was banned. Hopefully, he can plead his case, get a 60-90 day ban, and just hang out in the places that don't touch any exposed nerves. I hope this whole ordeal doesn't leave a bad taste in his mouth. We really missed HD while he was gone. I'm very glad that he made it back this way and posts on a regular basis.
