Farid Mehr Design Patent and the new 4" K2 release

I wanted to show the members the latest 4” K2 knife, it is also my newest knife which has my Patent, ‘Design Patent’ totally new. It is Patent Pending in the U.S and also 35 other countries worldwide.
The new features of the 4” K2 is, lock over travel stop, the stop pin is now changed from 3/16” heat-treated 431 stainless to a heat-treated 5mm round 17/4PH, tip up carry and also my Patented Design Feature. The 4” K2 is very much an EDC size knife.
The display size Giant K2 was an interesting project to build as all the parts had to be over built to reflect the physical size of the knife. The specs are ½” thick D3 steel blade flat ground, the titanium slabs are 10mm thick, all screws are titanium with the exception of the two grub screws which are stainless, the clip and the screw which holds it are also all titanium, spacer is also ti, lock over travel stop and it’s screw is also ti, the washers are made from heat-treated 17/4PH stainless 48rc, ¼” Silicon Nitrite Ceramic ‘D’ tent. The overall length of this K2 is 26”.
On this display K2 you can clearly see my Design Patent which consists of many curves going in and out which also fully compliments my serpentine signature spring cut out which is now standard feature on all my folding knives.
I hope you all enjoy the pictures and I am sure I will see some of you at BLADE.

Awesome, I look forward to seeing what the future holds. This post and the pictures are so cool I thought I was dreaming.

The big "display" version has a fully functioning D3 blade like you use in your competition cutter?

Since you've done all the work uprating everything in proportion are you planning a run for people with very big hands? :)

Are you taking 4" models to Blade?

That thing is just hilarious, I'll look forward to seeing that beast at the weekend. :D:thumbup:

so you can just make the edge of the frame lock and spyderco hole wavy and then call it your own design and have it patented?

I will be seeing some of you on Thursday evening.
Take care all.

The large knife is a Slysz bowie, correct?

It wasn't an attempt at a "snark" as you put it.
It was an attempt at humour, as all three of the knives in the post are K2's, as I assumed you were actually making a joke.
Two are his new K2, and the top one is his oversized display model.
And yes I do know what both knives look like thank you as I have 3 hand made K2's, two Spydie versions and a Slysz.
I'm sure Farid will be amused if you go to him at the Blade Show, pick up one of his K2's and ask if "this is the bowie that Polish knife maker designed".
Oh and that last sentence was humour again. :D

Point for the future: the rolling eyes usually does not denote being humorous. And I wasn't making a joke, I was genuinely curious. Those two look a LOT alike, so the mistake was easy to make. Blade shape, the Spyderhole, the lockbar cut-out, same slab of grey ti scales...seems like a pretty easy comparison to make. If anything I was wondering why he was making two knives so small. Of course, after further reading, I understood that they were actually the "normal" sized knives.

Apologies for using that imoticom then, don't use them too much but will remember for the future.:)
Farid told me months ago he was making that monster size for the Blade Show, but I didnt get over to his workshop to see it.
I'm sure it will be a hoot in the flesh.....

Well, I have to get over to see it. It does look quite impressive. I will say, his knives look ripe for personalization with some sweet anodizing. Definitely going to have to have a look.

San, of the spyderco K2 u own, have you noticed any lock stick or clicking as I would call it ?
I own one myself and like the knife, but it does seem difficult to operate the lock . Any suggestions or am I missing something, since you own the knives and know the maker. And thanks. I actually have one for sale now and a member did ask me last night in my sales thread if it was the slysz bowie..
