Farid Mehr Design Patent and the new 4" K2 release

I see he uses holes for the lock-bar relief, instead of pockets; the Damascus blade K2 that's easier to open has the largest relief of the three... I'm sure other makers have done something similar, but I haven't noticed. Is it supposed to make for a stronger lock-up? It looked like too much material was gone at first, but up close I realized the chamfering made them look larger. Some (most?) framelocks using the pockets take more titanium, no doubt.

It was really great to see Farid at The Blade and yes, he did have the monster D3 knife. I am looking forward to see all of Farid's future knives. In my mind, he is a world class knifemaker and I love them all.

I want to see that huge knife in hand! Will it be for sale or is it sold already?

Just to be clear all the new 4" K2's are D3 tool steel blades right now and not REX 121 as some people have mentioned, also these are full hand made custom knives and not mid tech, I do not yet make mid tech.
