Farm Life

Ok, thanks for this additional information. I guess one can read all sorts of stuff on the internet. DM

David, here is a farm story you will love that includes a snake.

When I was in the 3rd Grade a new school was opened half way through the year and I had to go to that school. Our new teacher was unknown so a friend of mine helped me to catch a Garter Snake and I put it in the teachers desk drawer. It was one of those old, heavy metal desks two men would have a hard time moving. She came in and we were snickering and eagerly waiting on her to open the drawer. She finally did and saw that snake...and picked it up! We were stunned! She seemed to know exactly who the guilty pair was and she calmly walked over to the window and dropped the snake outside. Then she said, "Boys", looking right at me, "I was raised on a farm and there is no snake in this world I am afraid of. Furthermore," and she flexed her muscles, which were huge, "I am a lot bigger and stronger than either of you and if you give me trouble you are going to get it." Then, she reached over and picked up that desk! I guess the loudest sound in that astonished classroom was my jaw hitting the floor. Ha!
Her name was Mrs Greer. I have never forgotten her.

O, boy! Mrs. Greer. I never had a teacher like that. But if I did I would have been quiet during class. Thanks, DM

Here's some events of farm life and Buck knives plays a part.
These are Cornish hens being raised as meat birds. 41 in this brooder hutch. They will be ready for processing in July. I'll give you some more photos along the
way. DM

Which model buck knife is that?

My apologises I have since read alot more of the thread and can now see what model it is.
How hard are the to come by?

Patt, welcome to the Buck Forum. It's a 334 Buck Millennium Trapper made by Camillus in 2000. They can be found on the big auction site. The blades are 3 1/2" a drop point and spey. I find it useful for my daily cutting needs. From cutting up apples to sisal rope to prunning limbs. A good general purpose knife. Good luck on your search. Thank you, DM

Thank you for the reply DM I am currently looking at one on that big site. fingers crossed I need to get someone to bid for me. Being in the UK i am not allowed to bid on knives on the US Ebay, waiting to hear back from a friend in the US.

There are a couple of places that carry discontinued Buck knives from time to time that are regular shops. However, since they are not paid sponsors of Blade Forums I cannot tell you where. However, one edgy place carries American knives and Sooner than other states.

Nice try attempting to code your post, Doctor T, but Sooner or later we will make you State your source for Knives. :p

Unpaid members don't have Private Mail or some people have not turned their's on. Most people don't want to put their email on the forum. Unlucky me, when you ask me a email question you get my email. But, I have experienced no problems as most Buck people are not the Hacker or Trash talker types.

When you want to know specifics not allowed by Blade Forum rules, as mentioned by DocT, use Private Mail function when you have it available. You must be better than me in finding old knives or I am not looking in the right spot because "the wind keeps whipping down the plains" and blowing them across the Red river. Or maybe its because I am more interested in ' watching the hawk making lazy circles in the sky'.........300

( Hey, don't trash me, Doc started it) All in good fun.

It was a nice afternoon today and I cut us some wood. My Trapper went along for the ride. This will help us stay warm. It is a dead Emory Oak. DM

Any chance we could get a picture of that knife in hand? I am curious about the size.
Or even next to a 110

If you are simply looking to own that knife pattern for use (if it's not necessary for you to have the Buck name on it for collecting purposes) you can find them under the Camillus name as well (same knife) - giving you more options to own. Look on the auction websites for the old Camillus American Wildlife series. Camillus also made the same knife for Remington. OH

I would prefer Buck but would happily have a Camillus one. However looking on the auction sites the Camillus is even more Expensive.
I found one for $40 but the handle is cracked

Here you go patt, this photo is from page 13. There are others, just skim back through it and you'll find them. DM

Ah so it is not insanely big then. Yeah I want one. I actually want the one that is on the auction site now but my American contact has fell through ha ha.
Not to worry hopefully there will be more.
Look great DM thank you

ha ha kind of wish i have never found this post now. It has started off that obsessive search mode in me.

Need to find a black handled 334 model. I always liked the trapper model but never liked the thin blades. This one doesn't have thin blades so it looks perfect.

To me it's not so large. Just large enough for most of my cutting needs. Blades are 3 1/2" and handle 4 1/2". Plus, it has a lanyard hole. It feels comfortable in hand. I would not pocket carry it. I prefer a sheath. Just me. DM

Well the 334 on the auction site sold. Unfortunately I could have had it but could not bid so if another comes up that anyone might be aware of and your not interested could you please let me know.
Thank you
