Fastest opening knife?

I am wondering what the fastest opening knife is in your opinion. No autos, but spring assisted is fine.

+1 on the Leek for assisted openers. For non-assisted, I'd have to go with the Kershaw RAM (or OD-1, depending on whether you count its cam system as a form of assisted opening).

I've got a few IKBS knives that take smoothness to a whole other level altogether. The Kershaw RAM is right up there too.

BM 585 has to be one of the fastest

Waved knifes (i.e. emerson) are faster out of pocket, if that is what you mean.

+1. Waved folders (or thumbhole folders with a ziptie attached) can't be beaten in terms of deployment speed. They go from zero to opened the moment they exit the pocket. The only way to get a faster deploying knife than that is with a fixed blade, imho.

Yeah, anything that can be waved really can't be beat. After that, knives that can be opened with inertia will beat an auto or AO. Something with a heavy blade and an Axis lock (the Rukus comes to mind) can give a waved knife a run for its money with some practice.

It may be because its new but my zt 350 is faster than assisted Ive owned. Its opens with a hard "thwack"..They say the Blur is vey fast as well..

Out-of-pocket, waved knives are fastest. It's too bad Emerson owns the patent on that, lord knows there are other makers with better designs. For quick openings, I find Axis locks and flippers(esp IKBS) are the best.

For out of pocket, fastest I have owned is my CS Spartan, with its thumbplate wave. For fastest in hand, my CRKT Eros hands down, that IKBS is ridiculously fast, even faster than my Leek IMO.

Yeah it really is a shame no one thought of that before Emerson.

In general, any non-backlock thumbholed folders are very quick. The newer pivot bushing folders like the Spyderco Para 2 are faster than any of my autos or assisted openers. But I am not as used to thumb studs as thumbholes though. Now if a Leek came with a thumbhole, it would be lightening quick for me.

BM 585 Mini Barrage, ZT350....are my fastest AO blades.

But my fastest is my ProTech Stinger. It just instant opens....nice solid click.

I'd have to say anything with a wave the only waved knives I own are my Cold steel Spartan and my Spyderco waved Endura4 they put assisted openers and autos to shame IMO.

Pulling out an unsheathed fixed blade out of your pocket!
Ahem... ok, Knives with emerson wave.

My Kershaw Scallion is the quickest opening folder I've ever owned, (and that includes a few automatics).
