Fastest opening knife?

BM 585 has to be one of the fastest

yes indeed:thumbup:....very fast:D

It may be because its new but my zt 350 is faster than assisted Ive owned. Its opens with a hard "thwack"..They say the Blur is vey fast as well..

I have a blur tanto and that thing will fly out of your hand if you are not holding it good.

My Kershaw Scallion is the quickest opening folder I've ever owned, (and that includes a few automatics).

+1 my scallion is still the fastest knife I've owned for a long time. Faster than my blur even which fires extremely hard but the blade just weighs so much more its a bit slower.

Waved knives are still the fastest out of a pocket though.

1. Wave
2. Flipper
3. Auto

+1 My lefty waved 7 is faster into action than any knife i own or have ever owned. Left pocket or right pocket does'nt matter. My buddy just came by a couple of days ago with his spyderco and we had a flip off. :D To say the least he was impressed and wanted my emerson-7.
Now if i could get a lefty custom emerson i'd be in heaven.

The fastest opening knife, in my honest opinion, is the knives I'm carrying on my person at any given moment...:D

I've had auto's and all manner of assisted openers. But, the very fastest opener I've ever owned is the Tim Galyean large Lahar shown here. You just push on the flipper and once the pressure is overcame, pow she's out and ready. It is amazing! So, fast and smooth I think it's totally unmatched, in that respect.

Without the use of the pocket for a wave type system,..if the knife is in hand, any IKBS flipper will be the fastest and by far the smoothest.

Waved knifes (i.e. emerson) are faster out of pocket, if that is what you mean.

+1,000,000 It's impossible to beat a waved knife when it comes to deployment speed, especially ones with large waves like the Spyderco Endura Wave.

Anything waved

I have to agree with the people about waved designs or anything similar. How much faster can you get when it's already deployed the second it's out of your pocket?

Fixed blade fast:D.

But seriously, waved opening may or may not be dependable. Sometimes I would find my Delica Wave not opening, or not opening all the way when I pull it out of my back right pocket. Either because I didn't shove the wave hook against my pocket or because I didn't yank it out fast enough or both. My Izula currently ranks #1 if I'm reaching for a knife in a potential SHTF situation. My Delica Wave is #2, and after that it's my regular folder either in my pocket or the CRKT Eros clipped to my shirt collar.

Non-assisted, HK 14650 is the fastest stud flicker I've seen. Silky smooth, better than AXIS. Flippers like the RAM deploy really fast also. And the question wasn't to my mind, which opens fastest out of the pocket, but which opens fastest. What if you don't WANT the knife to deploy out of your pocket every time, and you might want it in your hand closed periodically? Then perhaps a wave design might NOT be the fastest opening knife.

+1256 Wave. I've never had one not wave when I wanted it to. I tend to tuck the knife into the back of my pocket though. It has no choice but to wave when pulled out :D

BM 585 Barrage has the hardest AO -- in my opinion anyway... Not sure if it's the fastest, but it sure opens with the most force.

The Microtech Halos fire really, really hard - but are illegal in a lot of places. Tried one a while back and couldn't put it down!

It is almost too close to call on these two.

I think the Kershaw may kick just a bit harder but it may be because it is newer.
