I decided to turn my fat ASH-1 into a user recently. I am shocked and amazed at how well it performed overall with the factory edge. I am excited to put my own edge on it. I am thinking a 15 DPS but I will not know for sure until I get it in the sharpener and do a few measurements, but it will end up somewhere between 15 DPS and 19 DPS at the most.
As of now I was visiting the parentals in Arkansas around Mount Nebo and one of their 4 wheeling trails has had a tree across it for about a year now, so logically I used the fat ash to handle business.... Well....... to say the least I was seriously amazed. It performed so well in all facets that I decided to sell some other blades because the fat ASH-1 was just about perfect for a 6-7" blade!!! I cleared several trails and outside of the tree trunk I went through in the pics the ash would go through 1-2" limbs in one swing, anything over that took a little more.
Needless to say, I was amazed, like a hot knife thru butter...
It worked so well I am reconsidering using shop credits on a SFNO or a NMSFNO because I have my doubts on them outperforming the fat ash... Anyone know otherwise and have some input???
Here are a few pics to enjoy, I typically do not take a lot of pics so these are all I have.
