FAT ASH-1 Love

Funny….I am out in the middle of “nowhere” Australia and saw this thread bounced up with an ASH1 sitting next to me !!!

I have a FFFBM (Flat Fat FBM) and “a few” ASH1s, they are VERY different knives but the difference is not in “toughness” it is in use/utility. You wont break either doing anything vaguely (or even manifestly NOT) knife related.

I agree, it’s almost impossible to break this knife’s. And I also like Ash1 fatty. But the price on EBay about 1250 usd now…

Hello sir, could you please tell me the approximate production year of this satin-finish Fatty Ash1 knife with tri-color G10 handle scales?

I recently picked up a Fatty Ash-1 with a tri-color G10 handle and satin finish, but I have no idea what year it was manufactured. I’d like to ask the more experienced members for some advice.
Congratulations!
Can u post up a pic?

That must have been the Tequila Sunset G10 on the exchange here recently if I had to guess. Not sure if you are going to find a timeline unless if the Owner had it from day one.

After August 18th, 2008 & with all outstanding CG (fat) ASH-1 pre-orders filled first.

After that point, satin fat ASH-1's were seen at knife shows, & Ganzas (<-- one night virtual shows) at least through 2011 but probably a little longer at major shows like Blade Show East.

Originally, on the pre-order, CG ASH-1's were Combat Grade, .32" thick & were all coated or double cut bead blasted (DCBB) only- no satin.
LE ASH-1's are satin but .22" thick.
Skinny ASH-1's are .187" thick, mostly coated, but were not part of the ASH-1 pre-order, these thin ones were sold through the now shuttered Busse Company Store.

Jaxx Jaxx thank you so much for sharing the timeline & associated info.👍🏼

Absolutely- much appreciated Jaxx!
Y'all are most welcome 🤙
Also, I don't remember any tri-color g-10 being offered in the ASH-1 production run (but I could be forgetful!), however, pretty sure Jerry intro'd Tequila Sunrise to us in May 2009 with that year's fatty Blade Show special edition series (Key Lardo, Inactive Duty, Fat (Jack)Hammer, & the 2nd Gen MOAB.

……..I can’t remember when the small run/release of .20 with Sabre Grind was, they had the “BIG” finish, I missed out on them in the relevant “Ganza” (I DO remember that moment ;) ). The show blades really do make for interesting times (the .32 with Sabre Grind for example). And variances…..I have ASH1s in .17, .187, .20, .22, .25/6, .32 :D
