Fat warden pics requested

a little off subject here, but I see some of the heavy hitters chiming in and thought this might be a good place to ask a question.

I too like the thicker Wardens. I have snagged up a couple in the last few weeks including the .280 Leprachuan that W.T. sold last week. My question is has anyone removed the scales on a thicker, I am thinking .22 variety, warden to essentially make a fatty skeleton warden? I love my regular skeleton warden, but would like something a little more heavy duty for EDC. I think the .22 version would be great, but with the scales it is more bulky and heavy then I would like. I was thinking of removing the scales, wrapping the handle and sending it to Eric for some new kydex. I can't believe someone hasn't already done this....any input or pictures?

Definitely keep us posted on that, it sounds cool.

That's a very nice knife B. I envy you.

Thanks buddy, I like it. The weight is a sign of reliability,I always go for reliability, Boris the blade taught me that. Lol. For right now the hack railroad spike is pulling edc duty, I don't really think you can do better than a convexed edge, freaking razor sharp, like BEEF sharp....

sounds like a fantastic idea to me, I haven't seen a normal warden with the scales removed , I do not think it is skeletonized underneath , but would still be awesome anyways

This is close.

I just finished up this little project for Dunner (Mike), I'm calling it the "Nuke Warden" because the moasic pins remind me of the Nuke warning symbol. Mike just wanted a rounded spine all around and said he didn't need the holes for a lanyard, so, I thought I would fill them in. Mike said he will add a few more pictures when he gets a chance. It turned out pretty nice...............

:D

Jaxx, is that a fatty or the normal warden? It looks great. I'm giving up hope that you will show up one day with a Busse I wouldn't kill for... No such luck. Stellar my friend

I had a .22 warden with a blended convex. Nice high shoulders, and polished up. It cut ok in most mediums. Not a candle on my old bad, or cabs, etc. Miss all those! They were fun knives.

Good luck on finding that. The only Black and Blue G10 version sold through the Company Store was the "Bruiser Warden," which was .220 and satin. There might have been a coated version offered at a show or something, but there couldn't have been very many of them.

Ok guys, full disclosure, the hope was that someone would have a coated fat warden with bruiser g10 and that they would prefer my satin. While I love the blade the tan micarta just isn't my thing. A picture was posted in the exchange a few pages back about a leprechaun fat warden and in the pic was a black crinkle wrinkle coated fat warden with bruiser g10. Needless to say, I fell in love. If anyone knows where to find one let me know.... If not then this bad boy is going into the spa.

Oh and Jaxx always wins these little contests. His collection is Sick, as in ridiculous, I'm fairy young at this busse thing and I'm only 30, so when I'm old I would hope to have 1/3 of your collection. Hope

OK, I found a thread from 01-23-2013 that I wrote titled "Need Details for Fat Swedged Game Wardens" that offers a bit more information. According to the unmatched master hog Jaxx:

"They were a limited run offered at the last BLADE West show. 2008, IIRC. There were 2 variations, the combo you have and I believe a black/black canvas micarta version, same grind. There were the only 2 offered this thick and coated and were fairly limited. They were not offered through the BCS as a run, but I do think the Skunk had one or two of each left over that he did list there after returning from the Show, kinda like the grab bag offering that he used to do on New Year's eve once or twice. Because they were a Show offering, they don't really count as part of the official BCS GW series, but they're still pretty darn cool.

Nice score! They are the only ones I don't have but wouldn't mind owning...at least the leppy one.

ETA: Wait... the other is the same type. Was the other combo black/B&B G-10??"

Thanks WT, It sucks that there aren't more out there. I would be willing to make it worth someone's while to get rid of it, I won't give up hope. I'll just pray for one in the ganza

This is exactly what I was wanting to see, I didn't figure that it would be skeletonized, but I didn't know what to expect. I was planning on wrapping mine and figured I could use the holes to do so. I love the rounded spine on this knife, I wouldn't have thought of it but it makes sense and would even shave weight slightly. Thanks, Jaxx, your knowledge continues to amaze me.

Some fatty GW pix:

That's an awesome collection...are either of the pumpkins .22 and sterile? If so I was told there are only 14 of them out there and that they were only sold at a blade west in the late 2000's...I have one, it was my second busse and I paid through the nose thinking I found something special....

I have one sterile .220 Pumpkin Warden.

Back when the GWs were new, I bought at least one of every one I could, and traded for the ones I missed (sometimes they sold out in a matter of minutes). If it's on Lil' Foo's GW chart, I have at least one.

The black and blue with the swedge in the pic with the leprechaun isn't on the list.

I'm thinking that I'll send it in for some bruiser g10, possibly a liner or two

And another thing....

Back when these things were sold at the Busse Company Store, IdahoSkunk (who ran the store) let on that in his "opinion" there are fewer satin blue/black GWs than there were of the ultra-rare satin green linen model.

The list was of Company Store offerings, plus the SE and Blade West pumpkins from the original run. They were considered the official production models back in the day. It doesn't include the many show and ganzaaaa variations that followed.

I didn't mean that you are wrong, I appreciate the info. It seems less likely that someone would want to part with one so I'll have to have Busse make it for me. No big deal, just more waiting....

Eric Lind came through today with a great sheath for this fat warden. Retention is just what I like. It fits like a glove. Thanks mashed cat

The GW is one of the rare cases where I'd probably pass on the thickest/fattest possible. I've got the .220 Bruiser, and I think unless you're looking for the slicing capability of one of the thinner ones, its probably about as thick as I'd go. That being said, if I could afford a Fatty Bruiser GW, I'd probably still pick one up, just cuz.:D
