father and/or grandfather's knife

Hello,
Here is my grandpa's knife. I did not get to see him as often as i wished as I lived in Georgia and he in British Columbia. He is gone but I am greatful that I have his knife. He was a good man. This knife started my facination with traditional folders and sparked my interest in knife making. It is my most cherished possesion and I will make one like it when I get to that level. I know the main plade is proud but no grinding on this one.........Thank you and great thread idea...

What is that handle material? Wood? If it is, I've never seen jigged wood before.

These are the only two non kitchen knives I ever remember my Dad using. He dyed the EIG sheath and had to have the handle replaced. Backside scale of the Case is broken off and replaced with epoxy, yellowed with age.

My grandfather's knives, he loved the Western, took it hunting and fishing with us but kept it pristine. Also remember him carrying an Imperial jack but it's in real bad shape.

I feel fortunate to have these, hope my son appreciates them someday.

I hope it isn't too late to revitalize this thread. My grandfathers old 3.25" Imperial Stockman. The main blade still has a nice snap, while the secondary blades' spring is shot. The crimped bolster is dented on the other side.

He worked as a biologist at the VA and used this knife on a daily basis. He passed before my time, and I found it in a box of his things.

Great old knife. Now THAT'S pocket worn!

My Grandfather's Schrades which he gave to me, an Old Timer and Uncle Henry LB7, with a few of his Navy things. He passed away a year ago June 1. I'm grateful to have these.

The whittler in the first pic and the sodbuster in the second pic both belonged to my grandfather. I am thankful to enjoy them everyday.

My late grandfather's Queen #51 Work Horse. He carried this blade for years and as you can see it was well used. I recently bought a new single-blade version to carry in his honor.

I also have Sears stockman that he carried. It's rusted up and in poor shape. No pics.

I have had this one since my grandfather passed away in 1982 it was his daily carry. I don't know the model or when it was made but my dad thinks he bought it in the 60's. I also received a Barlow that was also his much older knife but my little brother took it to school and lost it about 20 years ago, grrrr

These are all some amazing knives! Wonder if there will be a time in the future my grandkids are talking about the knives I own. something like "only ever seen him own a trapper and a swiss army knife granny gave him, I remember we had to spend 8 hours at the park with a metal detector because he lost the swiss army knife. when we found it he pretended not to be too excited. just spit his tobacco and said 'good thing the damn knife is all metal.' but I saw the look of joy and relief in his eyes as he held it in his hand." Don't get me started on story ideas otherwise I will have to compete with our chief story teller around these parts! don't think there is room in this town for the two of us :D
