father son time

Your welcome it is all about pay it forward ,I to have learned alot to help myself + my 10 year old son as well !

Ya that sounds really cool. father son moments like that can and will have an effect on the kid, and you. I am 15, never shot a gun. my dad dosn't like guns, so sometime this year me and my brother are hopfuly going to a shooting range.

Not to make this about me and i dont need 20 replies but i just want to know if you need a permit or anything to go to a range, and rent a gun, that is if you can even rent a gun?

Probably have to be 18 for rifles and 21 for handguns. I dont really know, I have always shot my own guns on our land, and the only time Ive been on a range was in the army, or at classes.

right on.. my boys love shooting and tromping through the woods..:D

this forum is a wealth of knowledge and is filled with quality folks...

Awesome, but don't stop there.. The best gift you can give your son, is the time you spend with him and the attention you devote as well.

well i guess i will need to find someone with alot of land and some guns :D

ya, keep do stuff with that kid, he will thank you for it.

Nice work...can't wait till my little guy is old enough..he's 19 months right now...he's going camping with daddy in june though.

J,

The time I spend in the woods or handling blades with my boy make up some of my very favorite moments in life:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:.

All my boys, all 3 of them, are into different things. My 3 yr old and 10 yr old love the outdoors. We go out quite a bit.(fishing and car camping), My 10 yr old has just wanted to start goin with me when I go solo so Im stoked that I can be there to teach him all this stuff. My 7 yr old dosent like this stuff that much--More into X-box, and guitar playin then anything, but I gotta let him be him, if that makes sense.

Great post to share J! I love hearing about others passing on the love of the outdoors to the next Gen. Especially when its father - son time. TOOO many parents nowadays leave the raising of their kids in the hands of Playstation, puter...etc.
I dont have a son (yet) but have pretty much adopted my 12 year old nephew and I get him out stompin round the woods and camping every chance I get.
Bought him his first Mora last month.

So J, any ideas on the Jr.'s first blade of his own?

His first knife was a SOG flash, he now has a kabar, a Glock field knife, SOG paratool, swiss army recruit, and a Case canoe. Im gettin him a Little Bird for his b-day, along with his own .22.

Wow, hes way past first knife then! All he needs now is a user ID and to start posting on the forums!

ya thats cool if you want to do his own thing, plus hes kind of young, but i did that for most of my life (X-Box) but i wish i went camping more. I went camping when i was around 9-11 and i look back at those times, and every time i remember them, i start craving for a fire.

Dont push it on him but dont let him froget that outdoors is a option. he might be a late bloomer in the world of the outdoors. he might want to start camping at the age of 15, hell maybe 20. how ever long when he asks, do not say no.

EDIT: wow he got more knives than me!!! but i collect busses, so one of mine is all of his :D but hes getting a .22! lucky :)
I recomend for his 13 b-day, becoming a teenage, get him a Busse Game Warden. i am 15 that is my favorite thing i own. i would trade my TV, PS2, X-box, and anything you can think of for that thing. best X-mas present ever!

to look at all of busse's knives go to www.bussecollector.com. there expensive as hell but cant beat them. i know when i have a kid this will be his 2nd knife (first will be swiss army knife[thats what my first was]

Blood Grooves, I'm pretty sure you will need a signed parental permission slip, in addition to being accompanied with a responsible adult. I'm not sure what part of Washington you are in, but you might want to give Wade's a call. 425-649-5995.

They have a huge selection of handguns and several rifles available for rent. They also have classes oriented for beginners. Of course, if there was some place where you could rent DVDs of firearms training, that would be sweeet! :D
