father son time

j w,

Thanks for sharing that, and anything we can do to help you raise your son in the woods, we're honored and proud to do so!

I'm not sure what part of Washington you are in, but you might want to give Wade's a call. 425-649-5995.

Wade's is the only place I know of on the Eastside. They're located in Bellevue up by 520 and the 148th St exit. The staff there is pretty helpful and seem like nice guys. I'm not sure what age restrictions they have though.

Sometimes I have to cast about a bit for things that I can do and involve the kids in, too. (An earlier effort at involving them in constructing a muzzleloading gun from a kit didn't pan out too well, as it turned out to require more work with not-too-healthy chemicals that I didn't want them touching.)

Wilderness survival stuff, though, is just the thing. My kids LOVE it when we build campfires for cooking (in the back yard, usually), put up lean-tos, etc. I think the next subject I'll work on with them is first aid.
