Fatwood Parcels !!!

Pitdog, what happened?

I have never actually seen the shavings used from fatwood, only sticks burning as kindling, but I keep hearing it takes sparks like charcloth. Is it the Duct-tape that boogered up the idea, or the fatwood itself?

If it's the fatwood, maybe it needs to be smaller, like sanded with sand paper, or filed to generate more of a dust??

I had filed the fatwood into dust and usually it catches no problem. I don't think the Duct-tape helped any but the main factor was the constant heavy rain which soaked the cotton wool before I could light it !!!

hey Pit, try this;

take a toilet paper tube, and stuff with shredded jute, cotton balls, pour melted wax and pj into it and over the whole tube to waterproof it. to use slice open a bit, fluff up the innards and light with some magnesium shavings and spark.

I just pack a lighter and my mag bar. The bar never gets used in the real world.

I know what you mean, my mag bar's have been setting around doing nothing, is it just me or do we never use magnesium?:D
