fav benchmade?

The Griptilian family are great knives. Smooth actions, great design and good value for money. You wouldn't be disappointed with any of the Griptilians.
I have a 555 and 556, slightly prefering the 556.
I also have a 705. This offers superior materials - 154cm steel, thick full steel liners, G10 scales.
However, I find the 705 more fiddly to open.
As a Spyderco fan you will enjoy a Benchmade too..... for you I suggest the 550 or 555 as these Griptilians have the oval hole.

Out of all these, I have only handled (and own) a 710HS. I don't love it for the AXIS lock (which I favor above liner/frame-locks), as I am more of a balisong fan, but when you cut a decent amount of paper/tape/cardboard at work and after 2 months the knife will still cut through cardboard like it was butter ... you kinda get attached to it.

Of the Benchmades I own, I think my favorite is the 720, a knife that, for whatever reason, doesn't get mentioned here often. Some of the new Benchmade models are looking pretty good, though, too, so I may have a new favorite in the next few months.

I have been EDCing the 730 Ares in Black for about 3 years and love it. Great size and it has good utility blade on it.

806 is my current favorite but the 780 looks SO cool. 705 and 710 are right up there, too.

i was a huge Griptillian fan until i got sick of sharpening and/or using a dull knife. then i branched out. the 710 is my new favorite. the 551s doesn't really see much pocket time anymore.

Current favorite is the 705, and I'm going to start rotating a 705SBT and a 705BW. The LE 705BW is a really nice knife, and it looks a lot dressier than the black-tac type 705SBT.

The AFCK. I just got the D2 806, and it's even better than the original - more solid handle, Axis lock, better steel... mmm...

My favorite BenchMade is the 921 Switchback, the next is the 770 Gent's Pocketknife, and the third is the 940. You may look at all of them on one page at the following site: http://www.knifeworks.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=665 and Roger at that site is a wonderful person with whom to deal. You may note that all of them are Warren Osborne designs and it's true. I seem to have a thing for his work.

I also have a 720 Pardue that is the first Axis lock that I bought and it is a fine, but heavy knife for what it can do and I once had an Elshewitz 930, but it was never a comfortable knife for me to use. The swelling at the rear end of the hilt just never fit my hand and it hurt when I tried to use it. I traded it away.

Personally, I got a Griptilian a few months back and gave it away. First off, how the knife was marketed reminded me of the Gerber Gator... and that (for a long drawn out reason) reminded me of my ex-wife... strike one! To be honest the knife screamed "AMC Pacer". It was just clunky. Now I gave it to a friend who uses it everyday, and seems to love it. To each their own.

Am I the only one who feels it is time the Stryker got updated with the axis lock? For semimental reasons, the old Emerson CQC-7 Benchmade made is still my favorite Benchmade... we all know there is no hope of that baby getting an axis lock! ;)

My 720 has served me well for years now. The 720 introduced me to both Benchmade quality and the axis lock (both of which I love). It is without a doubt my favorite benchmade. It fits extremelt well in the hand and is a great user  .

I love the 943, very nice scales, small, and awesome blade shape.

Mini-grips are an awesome deal for the monay, but the blades are somewhat thin...

I still have the try the 710 and 520 :-P

My edc fav, and I have many BM's, is the Griptillian, combo edge, black blade.

My fav lookin is the Brend with clip.

I like em all. Prefer axis locks.
Cept for the switchback which I don't see why there are two pe blades.
One pe and a serrated, I'd understand :)

Everything is personal taste.
Tom

My favorite has to be the 710.

The 940 series are pretty cool as well.
