Favorite 2017 Purchase?

No question, the factory Buck 110 Auto.

Toss up for me between two discontinued folders....

Kershaw Blur cf CPM154
BM Mini Ritter m390

Both have outstanding F&F. So, I've been pretty happy with them, and both get carried and used.

I probably acquired more knives this year than I should have lol, but if I had to pick my favorites, the fixed blade would be a Buck 124 (with my Bradford G3 a close second) and the Vic Pioneer X for my folder.

I bought and sold a lot of knives last year but my 2 favorites are CRK Large 21 Cocobolo for folder and LionSteel M4 for fixed. I didn't think I'd like or use the M4 as much as I do.

If there was such a thing as buying too many knives, then I would have achieved it, so won’t list all of them. Very pleased with the following:

1) Manly ‘Comrade’ - Overbuilt Bulgarian slipjoint.

2) Spyderco PM2 - My first Spyderco, I finally crumbled.

3) Victorinox Forrester in Walnut - Just because walnut.

4) Benchmade 710-1401 - A worthy back up to my much used 710.

5) Helle Gaupe - Scandinavian fixed blade goodness.

But my absolute favourite has been the Benchmade Crooked River, which I feel has the potential to become a classic knife:

The one ‘meh’ purchase was a Grohmann no. 3 Boat Knife. Can’t warm up to it, but will try it properly over the next year, and am hoping to be won over...

Since this is my very first post on this site, it seems fitting it should refer to the knife that launched an obsession for me. On the recommendation of my local knife store, I picked up a Benchmade Bugout for my son just before Christmas. Upon realizing that it's a waaay better pocket knife than I ever had, I fell down the deep rabbit hole of knives and have made a number of impulsive (ahem... I mean researched) purchases since then. Those are all for 2018 though, so I won't list them here. I will say that I am liking the BM 940-2 and the Spyderco Sage 5 a lot.

I bought this Benchmade CQC7, shipped it to my bro in LA, and I met him in Maui for a wedding we had to go to and that's where I picked it up. Ahh, memories... walks on the beach, playing in the surf, dinners, helicopter ride... my wife was jealous :)

2017 is dead to me! Favorite of 2018 though is my new ESEE 6.
I have to agree. To hell with ‘17 and I love my 2018 bought ESEE6!:D

I bashed the hell out of my ESEE6 from early May until now in the woods and besides some paint wear and once scale screw that was vibrated loose by hours of batoning, it is still like new.

Serious hard use knife IME.

Bought sooooo many great knives in 2017 so hard to say but a special one was the ZT0452TI.

WOW I was in such awe when I first saw it in person at the store. Before this I had never purchased a ZT before, at the time i was really crazy into Emerson’s which are pretty much at the other end of the spectrum in terms of f&f haha.

When I get interested in something I get so obsessed with them, and after getting into Emerson’s I literally had just bought 4 of them in the span of the 5 weeks before. I had a craaazy Emerson fever. I forget what made me want to check out this knife but oh I lost the Emerson bug the second I touched this.

This knife is what made me catch the ZT fever and I have never shook it since.

The very next week I came back in and bought the 452CF as well. I was absolutely in love with the 452 design.

The next two I got after were the ZT0620CF and the ZT0460.

Have slowed down buying knives recently, but that ZT0452TI will always have a special place in my heart.
