Favorite All Around blade?

For me it's still HOGFSH.

Until I run across something that balances as well as the BGHR, while still chopping like a BK-9 (almost), the BGHR will be my favorite. For my uses, it even out-chops the Sarsquatch.

Beautiful. I picked up a B7 from the exchange a while ago for what seemed like a very reasonable price. Haven't used it yet, but with some stripping and edge-thinning, it should be a monster.

All-round blade could be anything in size from the Infidu to the Bunker Buster, depending on the expected balance of use and how much you're willing to carry. I'm certainly looking forward to the Bunker Buster, but at the moment, my favorite in this category is probably the SAR6, with its beautiful convex grind, and the ability to choke up for fine work or back for light chopping. At the end of the day, though, for the same weight, I'd probably rather carry my choil-less B10 and s110v lightweight manix for more versatility.

The choil-less Boss Jack's always appealed to me as well, but as I already have a range of very capable 6" blades in 3V, I've never felt able to pull the trigger.

And neither is a good chopper.

At the end of the day for me, as an all around blade, I would not even consider anything less than an 8 inch blade length or anything more than 10 inches unless it is thinner or swedged. with a ricasso, I can choke up and do fine work because the weight is not bad. But I can do big jobs easily that your HR will not do easily. To me the best ones are the SHII, BME, SHE, SHBM, original FBM non le, B9, B10, B8, B11. Any one of those will do it all.

It sounds like you place much more importance on the knife being a great chopper, more so than balance or agility. At least to me. It is more important to me for the knife to not be blade-heavy. Which is why my current best chopper is not my favorite blade.

Basic 8 or basic 10 for all around goodness. ASHBM for a chopper that can be used for most everything.

Ahhhh.....good one timmy. Alot of edge cutting surface on an 11 inch knife. A certain choiless DCBB Boss Jack is calling my name. Saving for it now. What a great blade.

My first busse was a Boss Jack. It unfortunately had a choil. I sold it. This one I got in trade. It's fantastic having that extra inch of cutting power. It's such a compact knife that there's no need to choke up.

IMO if you don't have it with you when you need to have it, what good is it? My BJ has been on my person since it arrived. That being said, I have a KZII that rides in the trunk of my car....

Eta: I forgot about the ergo battle Mistress. I'll own one again. It's just such a streamlined simple design. Hard to beat a blade that's got as much cutting edge as a NMFSH, and is shorter overall. Very nice.

Still, i can't help but look forward to Monday when that new hell razor arrives......

Basic line is very versatile...can't think of anything off-hand that you couldn't do <knifewise> with one of em.

You're probably not gonna make a living out of hammering on the pommel with one like you would a full exposed tang model....

But outside of that, gimme a B8 or Choiless B10 or B11 for the large-ish end of the mid-sized blade spectrum.

For the more mid-middle sized models...I love my SARSquatch....

Got a Camp Tramp inbound to hold the place of my B8 that's away @ REK-- have a feeling it's gonna perform like a CHAMP. I'll let yall know ;)

I may have to grind a choil into this so I can better warm up to it...

One and one only... it will be an ASH1 in one shape or form for me...

But honourable mention must also be given to the BATAC !!!
