Favorite Budget Knives of the Past Year?

Picked up a Steel Will small Intrigue in D2 after handling them at BLADE. Very impressed in what you get for the money. The Modus felt even better in my hand, but I went with the slimmer profile Intrigue as it gets carried at work.

Victorinox Walker: Great little EDC knife, only about $17 (on the left):

Ontario Rat-II in D2. Probably the best bargain in a locking folder I've ever found. Under $40:

RAT-1 in AUS8 or D2 - either works fine for me; though I am a D2 fan.

I am thinking about getting in of these for a new work knife. Ball bearing frame lock flipper with Sandvik steel. Under $30 at GPKnives and Blade HQ.
RUIKE P801-SF

Best for the money is invariably going to be invariably China made, however, a little bird has told me to expect 25% price increases from a major American name on Sept 4 because of the steel tarrifs on China. So I asked the lttle bird, what about that company's American made stuff that uses American or European steels. I was told to expect a similar price hike because they can.

The moral is that this months sub-$50 will probably not be next months.

Just say what company that news is about. There's no reason not to.

I was asked not to by a family member that works there. But I'm surmising that if 1 company is about to do it, they all will to some degree.

Hi guys,

I checked through 5 pages of the forum before posting. Granted, that only takes you back to the beginning of the week, though. There is a thread about surprising budget knives but it isn't quite the same thing.

I haven't bought anything knife-related in about a year. Just got a little burnt out or nothing spoke to me, I guess. I have a small number of favorites that I like to carry, so I haven't felt the need to add anything new in a while.

Over the past 12 months, what are some <$50 knives that have come on the market that you really like, and why? I am looking for something to add, but to be honest, I haven't even window shopped in a long time. Would like to put the spark back in my interest. Thanks guys.

I do not buy or avoid knives based on price. Nonetheless I've never bought a knife for under $50.

Some of the very best folders that I bought in 2018 were Cold Steel knives in CTS-XHP. Excellent knives: 1 - American Lawman, 2 - Code 4, and 1 - Recon 1.

Quite a few of my favorites are over $50. But if I've been out of the knife game for awhile, I like to check out lower-priced yet satisfactory knives first.

Always wanted to try an American Lawman, but the Voyager is my go-to Cold Steel and I just can't seem to bother with the others, yet. I had an AK-47 and a Talwar at one point (both are over $50 I think). I kinda miss them, the Talwar particularly.
