Favorite cheap folder - under $50

The one I've been carrying regularly for the past couple of months is the Spyderco Navigator. I picked mine up for well under $50 but prices may vary.

The more I use this knife, the more I like it.

Spyderco Dragonfly and BM Panther are current favorites for daily carry.

After reading this, I suppose a Calypso Jr. goes on the list of knives to purchase.

Impulse.Any CRKT folder.Any Spyderco. Many can be bought for under $50 from our online friends.

I haven't played with one yet, but the Gigand Shockwave looks like a good value. I know it isn't a folder, but you can also get some fixed-blades made by Mark Nevling for about $50. 52100 steel and a sturdy sheath!

Good ones listed, but nobody has mentioned a David Boye lightwieght. Great knife for around $50. I also like my Spyderco Walker. It is not a strong knife, but a good cutter. Although it is probably not as good as the Calypso Jr.

My favorite carry for many years was a Schrade-walden1250t it is good in the field and only takes a few seconds to get it iinto shape, then i like the cold steel voyager, then the endura, The other knife I carry alot is a SOG. The Schrade is thirty years old and I purchased it for eleven bucks.

I agree with anthony cheeseboro, Spyderco Native.

It's a toss up between:

1) Outdoor Edge Impulse
2) CRKT AL-handled Mirage w/ wharncliffe blade
3) CRKT "Z" series M-16's
4) Just about anything from Spyderco under $50...

If any of the old non-clip Cold Steel Vaquero Grandes are still around for $50ish they're the absolute, ultimate best buy for defense and not all that shabby for utility.

They were $39 for a while there...probably available cheap as a factory second, too.

I posted this question on the review forum but am placing it here also to reach more.
I own or owned most of these with a few exceptions-one is the Impulse.Owners seem to rave over them. I anticipate getting one and my question is chice of plain vs.serrated blade. This is nota general question as to what is better as this has been discussed in other threads. Some brands(spyderco & benchmade) I love their serrations. Some(cold steel) I do not and only buy plain edged cold steel products.Any advise on the impulse?

As I've mentioned before, the Endura '98. Great handle (among the most comfortable I've ever felt), scary sharp edge, strong lock, ambi capable.. I love it

for under $50 on a regular basis, i'd vote for a zytel native or a gerber gator ATS-34. they are both very comfortable and have pretty good blade steel.
