Favorite Coffee Mug and Traditional Knife

Got a new one at the weekend, from a stall at my local Ukrainian community centre

Thats a winner I use to wear my Ogri tee with 2 fingers up to work when they where hacking me off.

My new mug just arrived I opened the box with my Bunny.

It is heavy, drop it on your foot and you will be off to A and E 😁

The capacity isn't massive so designed for fresh refills I guess.

I doubt if its used for delicate coffee afternoons at the Ritz,I love it.

Next I am looking for the Corning traditional handle less plain white watch mug.

Factoid... the base ring couldn't be easily glazed this was seen as a positive as the heavy weight along with the rough surface would help stop it sliding in rough seas.

Greg Picard's slipjoint mug of reste

When they put my new jaw in, they split my lip in a couple places and now my lips don't seal so when I take coffee in my mouth it leaks out of my mouth unless I hold my head cocked to the right. This cup has an outward flare at the lip of the cup and I don't leak so much.

This kind of cup with a lid that has a sippy slot works best for me - no leaks. No, I don't usually keep my knives in a cup of coffee. It was an experiment about whether micarta can be dyed.

I like the turtle mug, Frank, and I LOVE that beautiful blue canoe!!:thumbsup::cool:

That's a simple, clean design, David, that reminds me of some "china" my late Mom had over 50 years ago.:cool::thumbsup:

Sort of. When the knife was finally removed, there was only a faint line of the coffee mark. Soak time was a couple of hours if I recall correctly. Blade had a coffee patina but that cleaned up easily.

Good to see that you still have a thirst for coffee, ED, even if there's some leakage. More importantly, you still have that insatiable thirst for knowledge; thanks for sharing the results of another of your fascinating knife experiments!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT, it's a vintage pyrex I found in a box of ild dishes in a garage I had to clean out for work. I'm currently looking in local antique places for a vintage jadeite mug with straight sides. That's what I remember my mother's father drinking coffee from.
