I second the Ti Mirage.

have a"knife"day

I find it odd that nobody has mentioned the "Urban Shark" as of yet. I've purchased two. It has a great "lock-up" and the gray scales are beautiful. I find the shape of the blade to be just about perfect. CRK&T calls the blade a "trailing point" design.

Either of the two you mentioned would do nicely. I had a Kasper that I sold ( have three of the custom Kaspers) and it was very nice. It had secure lock up and looked and functioned like the custom. I picked up a P.G. the other day and tried it out. I like it also. It is well put together. So choose either one and you will be happy.

I have the large KFF plain edge and I love it.I can get a lock tight grip because of the handle design. The KFF is a little heavy but a very solid knife and now my favorite folder, now I have to get the medium version too.

so many knives...so little money

I find the Mirage Gray Ghost 3" semi-serrated to be a great everyday carry knife. Small, very well made and smooth operating.

The native is a great knife.....To your question. I owned the large point guard. I was very impressed. I didn't like the pocket clip though. Too long. I have not tried the KFF, but hear only good things about it.

What is this existential quandry all about anyway?

I personally like the Point Guard because it is fairly light, as compared to the Kasper and its blade shape makes it great for general cutting.

For me it's the large KFF. I also saw the Ad in Blade that has been previously mentioned already and I can tell you that I will definately be getting one of the large Ryans when they come out.

For now it's the large plain-edge Crawford/Kasper...

BUT...

I'm convinced that the upcoming Polkowski/Kasper fixed blade WILL be my favorite from this company as soon as I get my hands on -some-!

Mirage Gray Ghost Wharncliffe. AUS-8A and Aluminum scales for $95 Canadian including tax (probably less if ordered online).

I have the small M-16 tanto in aluminum as well. It's cool, but I wish I'd sprung for the big 'un with the flipper. Oh well, I'm overdue for a new blade anyway...

I normally carry the small KCFF in my "dress" pants and it makes a good daily carry tool. I've got the larger KCFF but it's a little big for daily carry, so I keep it in my briefcase. I also carry the M16-Z periodically. It's particularly nice in my hands and has a great bottom end that would be devistating for beating on things in the closed position. I carry the larger M16 Tanto in my winter coat pocket. Needless to say I like a varitey of CRKT knives and agree they represent on heck of a value for the $$. I've got the bearclaw and a couple Stiff Kiss', though haven't worn them yet. Don't think you can go wrong with most any of them. I've got a friend who buys high $ knives and does some training. He really liked my big KCFF, said it fit nicely in the reverse grip, but as yet I haven't trained in fighting and just use them as tools.

I really love my Sampson's KISS, though it isn't up to hard use. I use it mostly for opening cocoa packets and mail, and the one time I had to cut some garden hose I could really feel the difference that skeletonized handle makes. For general twine-snipping use, I'd look at their KISS line; if you're going to need some serious cutting done, then the other models would be better

Small Crawford Kasper here......however...I managed to bring home a couple of the new Steve Ryan's & Brian Tighe.....my favorite may be changing

Heck.I like them all tho.

I own a large KFF (plain-edge), a large Point Guard (plain -edge), and a large Urban Shark (plain-edge). The one that that finds it's way into my pocket most often is the Urban Shark. You just can't beat it for all-purpose, everyday utility work. The KFF is a pure fighter, and the Point Guard pretty much "splits-the-difference" if you catch my drift. Right now I'm waiting (not so patiently) for CRKT to relaese the Kasper Companion fixed-blade.

I carry most of the CRK&T folders and the one that seems to be the most popular is the M-16s with the flipper. I ask for feedback on the knives I sell (positive or negative) and so far no negatives on the M-16 with the flipper. I'd give this one a close look.
Good Luck
