This isn't a debate. I'm not asking what's the BEST different people have different views. I'm simply asking from an EDC fixed blade knife, concealed or not. What is your preferred length? Thanks in advance.

3.75" blade length... and it's an Emerson. OK, that was my old post... when I thought we were talking folders. For fixed, I can get by with my Busse SOB (just over 4"), but I prefer my Busse Hellrazor--nearly 7"...

3.5" to about 4.5" are what I like the best a hollow ground drop point is nice as well but not necessary.

What I prefer to carry is about 3 - 3.25 inches. But the things I really and truly need an EDC knife for about 99% of the time, I think 2.5 to 3.00 is more than enough and many times prefer to have a smaller knife.

~3" blade, (though for the 2.25" Spyderco Dragonfly and 3.4" Benchmade 940x, I make exceptions)

For a folder, ca. 3 inch blade; for a fixed blade ca. 4-5 inch (normally a Scandi).

Three to three and a half inches is what I carry more than anything else. I guess that must be my favorite.

I'm a 3:5" minimum to 4. I enjoy carrying smaller knives but my preference is very much for bigger knives outside of the work place

7" from the guard is about perfect.

I like a full size handle that is in the 4.5"-5" range. Don't need any bigger and any smaller and my pinky starts hanging off and becomes uncomfortable. That usually equates to, I think, a blade in the 3.25"-3.75" range though there are likely exceptions. I have smaller knives but they don't get carried often.

I've always wondered why people usually go by blade size when handle length gives a better idea about how it will fit your hand.
