Yeah I think for SOME people 8in OAL is a little to long for a edc type knife. The one I'm working on now is right at 7.5 OAL with the blade being just a hair over 3.25

I agree with valknut. 3.25" with about 7.5-7.25 OAL is ideal for me. Still useful, but doesn't scare the sheep.

Most of my everyday tasks can be easily done/accomplished with a 3.5-4" blade

In the food prep and outdoors department, the longer the better!

I notice on all your Spyderco knives you use these huge zip ties and even metal nuts to make them wave. Is there an advantage to the massive size over just a standard zip tie? I use much smaller ones and they deploy every time without fail. Very curious about this.

Occasionally, I'll carry Bird & Trout knives - Kabar 1226 (3-5/8") 1232s (4") or some old Westerns - L28 (3.5"), L48A (4") L48B (3.5") L46-5 (4-7/8")
