favorite handle material

Micarta mostly, but carbon fiber is great for dressy knives. Also, Queens honey amber stag is real nice.

Spyderco black textured G10 (like the one used on the Manix): tough, grippy, confortable, nice feeling:thumbup:

I also like titanium & FRN, but G10 is my favorite;)

Blasted 6Al-4V Titanium (for folders).

As for fixed blades, I'm still figuring that out.

I mainly have and use fixed blades and I'm a big fan of hardwood burls, desert ironwood being my top choice.

If I'm looking for something that'll handle abuse, I love Micarta.

However, in general, nothing beats a beautiful natural hardwood, as shown on my beautiful Graham Brothers' Razel:

Haven't had a chance to try to many yet, but so far I just love the feeling of exposed metal in my hand.

Where did you find the carbon fiber CRKT? It's not in the online catalog.

Micarta is wood.

Micarta is not wood.

Wood is a natural product from trees. Hardwood being the most common, although many woods can be used if they're stabilized.

Micarta is a composite laminate material made by taking layers of a fabric and compressing them with a resin applied. The fabric can be many different things, including paper, linen, or canvas. In fact, the fabric can even be glass (resulting in G-10), or carbon fibers (resulting in Carbon Fiber laminate).

G-10 for function, Carbon Fiber for looks.

Although, FRN is a close runner up. Nice and grippy, especially with Spyderco's texture, durable and featherweight.

I haven't had any experience with Micarta.

Topher, thank you for clearing that up:thumbup: Welcome to Bladeforums, mkf2294. You'll find a lot of friendly people here willing to offer all the information necessary to keep you up to date:)

Oh, and for me....it's carbon fiber, G-10, then Micarta. I love wood and bone, but don't often carry them. FRN? I can appreciate it's light weight and toughness, and it goes great on utility beater knives, but it's not my favorite.

Micarta, and FRN. I like linen micarta and frn because they feel cool in my hand, unlike wood, and bone, which make my hands heat up. What ever becker uses feel nice too.

G-10 is also nice, because it's really grippy and doesn't get too hot in my hands.

i love micarta as a performer, it looks nice and simple. carbon fiber looks amazing but its isnt very grippy. classic stag also has its place in any collection
