At 4 oz, I use a BM Fixed Grip in 154CM for longer backpacking trips on known trails. I defer to a Becker Crewman for bushwacking or car camping trips. But it's time for a custom for me, so the factory jobs are going up for sale:

The knife I seem to reach for the most when I go out hiking is my Busse Model-T Street.

Day hikes Busse SFNO LE and for camping Busse NMFBM LE. I used to use my Meaner Streets but I bent it prying fatwood from a stump, So I bought the Outlaw.

Fallkniven F1, I've been using the same knife for a long time and the reliability reenforces my decision more and more each time I take it out.

Bravo1 or Gunny for me, as well. Also like the RC-3.

rk, did you sell your B1 SS?

Doc

Doc, yes, but ONLY because I'm betting the Fiddleback Hunter I have on order will be even more comfortable in-hand and just as functional. I'm also thinking that since the Bravo-1 isn't going anywhere for a while, I can always pick up another if I discover I've made a mistake (and I have no problem with another A2 if the SS is gone by then).

So far, the Spyderco Military I've received in trade seems to be worth it, particularly because I EDC a folder. And my NWA Sierra Scout or BRKT Gunny have been getting the lion's share of fixed blade use lately, because both (especially the NWA) are so comfortable in-hand. All in all, selling my B1 SS seemed like a risk worth taking :)

I should have emailed you first, just in case you wanted to pick it up from me :o My apologies, Doc!

No apologies necessary but thanks for the thought! My finances are, at the moment, in danger of extinction! :( Work has slowed to a crawl, etc., etc.

Oh well, still alive. :D

Besides I already own 2 B1s. I am seriously looking at a SS Gunny, though.

And I agree, although I didn't think it possible, that the Gunny is even more "right" in hand than the B1. They're both amazing blades, though. However, I prefer to carry the B1 due to extra bombproofness (:D) in case it's needed.

I only commented because of your previous professed love for the SS version.

I also EDC a Spyderco (Manix Sprint Run - Green) and a Buck and a Victorinox..... :o, but I would never consider trading a B1, especially a SS model for any Spyderco ever made. Just my take, of course. :D Obviously, YMV.
