Favorite Knife Around $75?

I checked and they have the Cold Steel Golden Eye (regular green version) for a bit more than that. The CF version (which Woot had marked down to $59.99 a while back) has rapidly become one of my favorite knives, I highly recommend it. It's a bit odd looking with the ramped hole opener, but altogether excellent in use:

I also really like the Civivi Naja. IIRC I paid about $40 for the orange/9cr18mov version, and about $70 for the black/damascus version. Here is the black version but with the gold liners from the orange version:

I'm planning to give the Buck Sprint Pro in burlap micarta a try soon, and it's ~$100 over there. It's a flipper on bearings, and I love the way the burlap micarta looks:

Cold Steel Vaquero

Decent quality and and excellent cutter.

In addition to Cold Steel American Lawman I mentioned earlier, there are also a few good cold steel models you can currently get for the same price range:

- Code 4 - choose between bowie, tanto or spear point
- Swift - assisted opening
- Golden Eye - tanto or spearpoint
- Ultimate hunter - maybe a few bucks more
- Broken Skull - large but super lightweight

All of them have either S35VN or XHP steel. They are what i consider “do everything” knife. You can edc them, and if you want to hard use and go crazy like batoning, they can handle it.

Many of the dealer exclusive Buck 110's, 110 LT's, and 112's are my favorite in that price range.

How is the mpr3? I checked out an mpr1 and it had bad up and down but I love the designs.
I like it so far, locks up well, no blade play, blade is almost dead center and grinds are pretty good. When I got it I thought it was pretty small, but in reality it's just slim. Almost the same size as an umnumzaan. In fact the blade length is basically the same, the handle on the mpr3 is just smaller. I also got a great deal on it and should have bought a few more. The site I bought it on had them priced incorrectly, they have since fixed the error.

I’d go with a KA-BAR, hands down. Not very EDC-friendly, but if you camp/fish/hunt, man does it shred every single task!

Around that price IMHO the Kershaw blur in s30v would be hard to beat. If you don't like assisted knives a buck vantage pro or for a few dollars more maybe a Spyderco chapperal

What are your thoughts on the pocket clip? It looks like it's going to have a hard time holding the knife securely.
It actually holds it really well, especially because the knife is so light. I've clipped it on, jeans, khakis, suit and shorts.

There is a good reason why Spyderco fans are so notoriously obnoxious about their loyalty. The knives may look funny but they really feel good in the hand and are made to use and use hard. I would get a Delica or Native 5 light weight. If you want something bigger then you can get an Endura. And don’t forget the salt series with H1 steel Also in your price range but if you want the best edge retention you need to get the serrated edge. H1 is tough.

I have to mention our buck 2018 bf knife from last year, an amazing value near this price point which included cpm154 steel, excellent elk scales; the value is hard to beat. Those are not something you'll find for sale any longer.

Check out buck's 342 vantage pro plus - in s35vn steel with their excellent BOS heat treatment... the blade is a little under 3" so it is smallish, but makes an excellent EDC for about $79

outside of that, the 112 pro slim in s30v is a great value and also near the pricepoint
if you want a super slicer, check out the kershaw leek in 14c28n - an excellent stainless that punches far above it's price
