Favorite Knife Handle?

I've got a bunch of different materials in my collection, but my new favorite is the green canvas micarta. Grippy and tough from the recent work I've done with it.

I'm also putting some wooden handles on a few Scandinavian blades I got from Ragnar. I'm starting with black walnut cuz I've got tons of it, it's easy to work and if I mess it up, I won't be kicking myself like I would if I ruined a nice chunk of ebony, cocobolo or figured maple.

That sounds interesting. Got any pics or links of that?

Well I did a few quick searches...

Here's one dealer with the material to get an idea of what we're talking of:

Here's someone making one:

Ragweedforge has some:

The best are the simple work knives with no decorations.

Wow, you're fast, PatriotDan! Thanks for those links, I just may have to try making one of those. In the tutorial I didn't see anything about using glue or epoxy like you would with a stacked leather handle... maybe I just missed it... Anyway it does look mighty nice.

Stag will always be my favorite. I like it best on pocket knives but is nice on fixed blades. The best as far as durability, ergonomics and secure grip has to be micarta. My 3 favorites are green/black linen, maroon linen and red/black linen.

Resperine -C, used on the older "Better"Swamp Rat knives, and I think Scrap Yard uses it. After that, Wood, and then polished antler.

For looks definitely wood. Ironwood is my favorite with some of the fancy burls coming next. Practically though I'm really leaning toward Breeden's Orange handles. I'm sick of not being able to find things because they blend in with their surroundings!

My favourite handle has to be the one that fits my hand the best. I have variouslyhandled knives that feel great when I'm using them and others that give me hotspots and fatigue.

Material would be micarta for hard use and wood/stag/bone for looks.

I'm a sucker for natural materials. Wood, bone, antler, etc.
Synthetics just don't "feel" right in my hands.

Never thought I'd like the orange until I saw so many cool examples here. I'm not to worried about losing a knife in the woods because of the color. Still like the green linen or maroon linen micarta style but have always been a sucker for the stabilized wood burls such as the spalted maple, birch, olive, juniper or cottonwood. Oh hell, like em all!
