Without a doubt The Eye of The Needle.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082351/

For mature audiences only!!!

Wicked, sexy, diabolical, suspenseful, and a downright evil nasty character with a switchblade. Not too many old far..elderly folks in it trying to relive their better days!

the hunted or the edge.in the past it was under siege, but that was for the knifefighting.before that first-blood.but it's any movie that has a knife, even briefly

That was the one where a photog learned to use a knife right?
Great knife work.

Yeah,

Exposure (or was it called Exposed) was a great knife movie.

I saw that Cobra knife at a knife show about a year ago. I'd want it if I had walk through dark alleys a lot.

My favorite knife related movies are:

The Hunted
The Edge
The Snow Walker
First Blood

Hair

Thank You! Well said!

I was asking my question in the wrong place to begin with.

I may take this up at a different time and in another thread. But for now I will say this much:

I may never need to use the knife (knives) that I carry, but I will have them with me just because I like the "look" of them.

In fact, I would never actually "cut" anything (ever) with a knife that I love and own.

To use a knife's blade is to mar (and weaken) it's original beauty.

I do not ever want to use my knife for the one and only reason that I carry it, in the first place.

A knife (for me) is just something to look at, and to always keep brand spanking new, and never use.....and to give a sense of last resort security.

I would show a friend (any friend) a gun that I love and own: without hesitation.

A knife that I love and own would only be shown to someone who also carrys a knife. Nobody else!

A knife is clandestine......and darkly secret!

A gun is a tiger.

A knife is a......bat.

Easy: "The Edge", starring Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin.

Shows rather eloquently how the knife is the original tool, the one that set us above the beasts; the knife as the key to suurvival, and not in some Ramboesque militaristic fashion, but as a tool to be used together with wit and skill.

Yep. Here's Hopkins, the knife and its maker Brian Lyttle:

The Edge was definitely a good movie for us knife-knuts. Showed it as an essential tool to human survival.

Someone mentioned Spartan (a favorite of mine), but I'd like to extend that to almost all of Davin Mamet's movies. Although I haven't read anything to confirm this, he's definitely a knife guy himself. Lots of his movies include or invove knives, including Heist (in which you can see Danny DeVito use a Benchmade 9100SBT), The Spanish Prisoner, and House of Games.

"Screamers"
It was the first movie where I saw a Spyderco (SE SE Delica, BTW). Those times I didn't even know there is such thing as Spyderco and I congratulated in my mind the one responsible with the props for such a cool choice (I thought it's a special designed knife for that particular SF movie) :foot:
Later on, I found that the real thing exists and I noticed countelss movies featuring Spydies.

Gotta agree with BRADV. I forgot the name of the flick but it starred Peter Coyote; made a believable wannabe knife fighter.

Cast Away with Tom Hanks, shows how to really improvise when you dont have a rambo knife or a chain saw. ice skates 4Life:)

what about long kiss goodnight with geena davis and samuel l jackson?theres an auto[spike? by benchmade or almar and the bg uses what looks like a custom knife.anybody have any pics of that blade?

KNIVES are many things to me other than just a cutting tool. KNIVES are a hobby. Take a look at some good high quality KNIVES. Superior craftmanship, high dollar steel, great tooling and machining, velvet smooth action. How many small functional items are there like KNIVES that have such a following and function.

'A Grande Arte' starring Peter Coyote from 1991. Also known as 'Exposure', 'High Art', and 'Knife Fighter'.
Peter plays a photographer in Rio who gets into a spot of bother. Leaves him wanting to take revenge on the bad guys who 'effed with him. Of course this revenge must be up close and personal with a blade as the baddies consider themslves masters. Luckily, Peter finds a 'true' master. Cue the training sequences and knife chat (most of it nonsense!)
Still, a reasonably good movie, very well shot, and one which most knife fanciers will groove on.
The bad news is it's never been released on DVD so you'll have to settle for a ropey VHS (Canada only as far as I know)
