Favorite knife steel

H1 for my folders
VG1 comes as a close second, but AUS8 is very similar and I like it almost as much
1095 and 5160 for fixed blades

I am all for classic, time proven steel
Never tried S110V but I have a hard time resisting the Manix LW. I love the knife and steel but money has to go elsewhere at the moment!

Buck 420hc, case CV, and Benchmade 154cm. If I'm out in a remote place there is always a coffee cup (my sharpening system) in camp.

I love CPM-20CV & the other companies' versions of it, but lately I've really grown to admire 52100 for the crazy thin edges it holds - I cut my right eye just by staring at it too long....& I finally just obtained an awesome fixed with CPM-S90V, & I'm blown away with its performance; it really does seem like it's getting sharper the more I use it.

But if I had to choose only one steel, my all-time favorite is good old 440A, because A is the best grade you can get, right? Is there a 440A+??
