Mine is "Bertha" mah BK9 and my new Condor Village Parang, also on Baryonyx can anyone tell me what "base of the blade is overground" means? :)

Yup, BK9, Esee junglas, ontario RD9, RTAKII
Hows the quality of the Condor, i've been thinking
of getting one.

My favorite in the 9", 10", 11" range is definitely the Browning Barker/Crowell Competition Cutter. I know it has a 1/4" thick, flat ground, carbon steel blade, but I think it is 1080, just not 100% sure. I also know it comes out of the box with a razor sharp convex edge and will cut like a champ! The sheath is well made, though some complain it is not thick enough. All in all, for the price of this knife (~$100), it is hard to beat.

The condor quality is AMAZING, seriously. I couldn't believe my eyes when I opened the box! thick, heavy, polished, sharp all around amazing craftsmanship and you can tell how much this will work for you, ordering another condor based on this purchase alone on friday

Condor is great  my parang was under $50, really thick, very sharp, two feet long, and with a quality leather sheath!

Hard to believe for that price.

They're so nice :') the village parang is my first but will not be my last by a long shot, you like that regular parang? I believe it's a 17.5'' blade

My favorites are my Condor golok and my Aranyik K-1 enep.

Truthfully though, pretty much anything from either company is well worth the money.

quit talking about that damn enep! I want one so bad :( speaking of, do you know their email? or how to get my hands on an enep?

hey cutter, that's a nice looking knife but it seems a bit underweight for a 10'' blade, is that a factor?

Guess that is due to the flat ground blade. It does allow you a faster swing and rebound for quicker follow up swings. I really never paid a lot of attention to the weight so what i've said is just supposition on my part. And it was designed to cut rope, so I think a lighter and sharper blade would be desirable for that task, and the same blade did a good job cutting the wood.

I do like it, it's really a beast though, 1/4 thick and not much distal taper on my specimen.

Machete...Corona, about $12-16 Columbia...they switched to China, buy all you can old stock, the one with the red rubber handle brass pinned...yes I have found a couple that cracked BUT after many many hours of hard use (including dropping fairly large trees rather than breaking out a chainsaw) I have found the size weight and toughness second to none, for the price I have never seen a hand tool compare

Himalayan Imports VUK [Village Ugly Knife] khukri--16"x19oz. A user grade handmade. My favorite chopper/big knife.--KV

I've broken a corona... never came close with either of my Tramontinas but I snapped a corona from the local hardware store without even putting it through very much

I have an 18" Tramontina. I love GSO 10 from survive knives, esee junglas, and the bk9... dare I say a busse ffbm

I want a junglas eventually but that's a bit pricey for me atm, check out the 14'' trams, they're great, the bolo is a chopping beast and the 14'' is more manageable than the 18'' so it'll wear you out less if you're just hiking

in fact what I love the most about the trams is how rough they come, I put a great edge on my new 14'' and sanded the handles down so smooth it'd make proactiv look like sandpaper hahaha, staining them a deep red hickory tomorrow!
