Probably my busse nmfbm. But that knife doesn't go out with me much due to the cost. Of my users probably the esee junglas, Becker bk9, Becker bk4, and rtak ii. The rest are customs I take out once in a while and are far superior to my users but I don't wanna risk them being lost, stolen, or confiscated.

Golok is lighter and faster in hand(as well as longer), makes it more generally useful to me.

The Parang is longer. Are you thinking of the Village Parang? If so it's a different model.

Yeah I've got the village parang but after trying it out yesterday, the handle is slippery and turns alot making accurate strikes more difficult in rapid succession and the factory edge sucked

I'm fairly confident I would love a Busse, but my favorite that I've used for years is an RTAK II. Does everything I need (as a car-camper once a year, father of 8 and 10 year old, work indoors the rest of the time kind of guy)

My current favorite large knife is the Bark River Grasso Bolo III.

Of course that may change when I get my hands on the Bark River Parang.

I looked this up and noted that it comes with an ivory Micarta handle that matches my carry knife. I really like the look of it. How does it take and keep an edge? Thanks

Bark River does a great job on their 5160,

...and it's a great choice for a big chopper.

I find it tougher then their A2, with maybe a bit less edge retention.

A good trade off on a tool like this.
