Favorite Light Weight & Thin EDC Folding Knife under $70

Boker+ Urban Trapper in vg10 w/ cocobolo handles.

Just under $70 at bladeHQ last I seen...

3.5" blade, 4.25" handle
Deep pocket clip
0.39" wide
Listed as 1.89 oz.

You can also get it in g10, at 1.92 oz.

The BM 530 is a 3.25" blade
0.37" wide handle and 1.88 oz.

My first choice would be a Delica. I keep one in my pocket. I removed the pocket clip and drop it in my pocket. Very light and thin and costs $59 with superior steel. You can choose your color.

Another great choice would be the Kershaw Leek. You can choose your color, it is thin, and has great steel. There is even a D2 version. This would make a seriously nice gift. http://www.knifeworks.com/search.aspx?find=leek

There seems to be a wide range of opinions as to what qualifies as a light weight knife. My own opinion is that a light weight knife should weight at most 2.5 ounces. There are a number of excellent knives in that category: Spyderco Delica, Benchmade 530/531, or mini-grip, Kershaw Skyline or Leek, Ka-Bar Dozier, and on and on. While the 2.5 ounce cutoff is somewhat arbitrary, I just can't see including the 3.6 ounce Endura among light-weight knives. The Endura is clearly a medium-weight knife, like the ParaMilitary2, Benchmade Griptillian, and many other excellent knives. Knives over 5 ounces, which are usually marketed as tactical knives, I would describe as heavy. However, I'm happy to listen to other opinions.

Endura is light for its size.

Skyline = 0.34 oz/in
Delica4 FFG = 0.35 oz/in
Endura4 FFG = 0.38 oz/in
Leek = 0.43 oz/in
Para Military 2 = 0.47 oz/in
Griptilian 551 = 0.47 oz/in
Military = 0.47 oz/in
ZT0566 = 0.69 oz/in
ZT0801 = 0.71 oz/in
Buck 110 = 0.88 oz/in
ZT0300 = 0.94 oz/in

A couple options mentioned failed to consider the "lightweight" aspect, the shallot and code 4 both come to mind as thin, yes, but both are over 4oz. In weight... Hardly "lightweight".
At least the leek mentioned a few times is a reasonably light 3 oz.

Just a heads up the threads over a year old I think the OP probably found his answer by now.

Lol, dangit, some new guy posts and winds up on page one, and sure enough, that's gotta be like the 3rd time I fell for it...
I really gotta start paying better attention to op dates...

At least I don't feel too bad, when 5 more people (4 more seasoned) all posted after me...

The smallest knife that I carry is the spyderco dragonfly 2. its great for edc so small I forget I have it in my pocket 1.2 oz, sometimes I will back pocket it and have a bigger knife in the front pocket. But still great egos for the size. Also it's not intimidating when you pull it out around non-knife people the orange or the british racer green are my favorite

I own around 20 high quality folders, and the best I have found, and used yet is my Ontario Rat 1. It is a Randall design I think, and it is thin, yet built like a tank and made to perform. It is my most comfortable folder to hold and use. Retails for around $40. jus my 2 cents

I think you're right. I have two of these, NIB, sitting in a box for two yrs now, and kinda forgot about them. I carry a $500 folder instead, but the Rat 1 will perform about the same as my more expensive folders. I gifted a RAT 2 to a buddy, and he absolutely loves it.
