Favorite Mora, and why?

I like the laminated #1 with the plain birch handle.. that's my fav..THe lam steel sharpens up like a scalpel.

i totally agree here. i like the narrow blade and fairly straight edge. works really well for wood shaping. the handle is a bit small, but comfortable once you get used to it.

i oil up my handles with a couple coats of danish oil, and they take on a nice dark patina after a while.

I have a tough time picking a favorite, that's kind of like Blonds brunettes or redheads.

Ha, ha - I don't mind being a bit more decisive here. Redheads and an M2K. Redheads are feisty and the M2K is the widest blade of all of them. Both redheads and the M2K have a lot of curves. However, redheads are gorgeous and the M2k is butt ugly. Sometimes the ugly one are the best workers though :D

For me its blondes and the the 780 Triflex... I like the feel of the grip and it holds a decent edge, just wish they weren't so damn expensive....

I like the Mora 2000. It has nice slighter thicker and broader blade than the others, and the handle feels good to me. The Sanvik stainless is one of my favorites for toughness and ease of sharpening. I have even grown to like the funky art deco sheath.

All my girl friends were Redheads but the wife is not so I was versatile.:D I really like the 2000 as well. It is one of the bests cutting knives I have ever owned at any price.

I'll throw up another vote for the 711. I love the big grip, the longer tang, the light weight, and the .98ths blade thickness. My only complaint is the integrated guard, but that was easy enough to trim off with my pocket knife.

:thumbup:780 for me bcuz of the larger handle and blade. Also the lanyard hole. I trimmed some of the guard off and squared the back of the blade

I know this is most likely a stupid question, but here goes anyway...

Who makes Mora knives?

Are there more than one maker or is Frost the only one?

And where are you buying them?

Hi DiverDn,
Moras are made in the city of "Mora" in Sweden, thats where the name comes from. The company making them is "Mora of Sweden" and it's a result of a merger of the two old companies "KJ Eriksson" and "Frosts". It's imo opinion the only genuine Moras, but there are of couse also chinese knock-offs available. i would not bother with them though, they are truly bad.

MoS also makes REALLY good kitchen knifes, might be difficult to get in the US though, but they are worth it if you can get them. Check out their homepage.

My question is...what about all of the models that Ragnar has that don't show on the Mora site?

Ragnar also has Helles, Bruslettos and Martiini (I think). Maybe thats the ones you mean. Otherwise all Moras is in their homepage. Maybe under different categories though.

Razorsharp,
Thanks for the information. I checked out a couple of online sites and they seem to have several to choose from. I am going on the search localy to see if I can find any so that I can see them in person.
Thanks again
John

Nope, I was talking about the Moras. I can't find all of them on there. Maybe my web-fu needs work, but I can't find about half of the models. The 510, for instance.
